The newly crowned Miss USA is a 26-year-old Army officer from the District of Columbia who gave perhaps the strongest answer of the night when asked about women in combat.
"As a woman in the United States Army, I think ... we are just as tough as men. As a commander of my unit, I'm powerful, I am dedicated," Deshauna Barber said. "Gender does not limit us in the United States."
The winner of Sunday's 2016 Miss USA competition held at the T-Mobile Arena off the Las Vegas Strip will go on to compete in the Miss Universe contest.

Just Blech What a huge load of politically correct blather
And on DDay.
Tough as men. BS lady. You're on stage babbling over a crown. Yeh...you're tough.
Pictures here:
Very pretty girl, and she serves too!
Really, anything a man can do?
Can anyone on this blog see her using a tanker bar to help change a track?
Picking up a two camo support bags and helping to jump a TOC?
Any of a hundred daily tasks which require real upper body strength and some weight to go with it?
“A PC pick. What’s new.
Tough as men. BS lady. You’re on stage babbling over a crown. Yeh...you’re tough. “
I have no quarrel with the statement “tough as men”. Women are indeed tough as men, maybe tougher. But, that’s not the issue. The issue (for me) is about two things; cultural, meaning the relationship between the two sexes. Young healthy men are physically attracted to the opposite sex. That’s a fact that all the political correctness in the world won’t change. Also, men are naturally protective of women which causes them to make bad decisions in that regard. Body strength; women simply aren’t as strong as men. Another fact that PC won’t change. Simply put, a unit with women in it is at a competitive disadvantage with their opponent. Another fact that can’t be changed.
Gender does not limit us in the United States.
This is of course the current Politically correct answer. Of course gender limits everywhere on the planet. Always has always will and there is nothing wrong or bad about that.
Dozens of things limit in human beings. I am 5’9 and was never going to be a star center in the NBA.
Pretty but by no means the prettiest of the bunch.
PC pandering IMO
Plus, what could she say other than that and not screw up her commission
its not like its the first the “prettiest” girl hasnt won... I would say nearly all the past winners where not always the “prettiest”.
“Any of a hundred daily tasks which require real upper body strength and some weight to go with it?”
My point exactly as with those hokey TV action shows where some 100 pound totally hot chick is throwing 200 pound muscle men around like they are paper dolls. It’s literally a physical impossibility.
The left is just one exaggeration or outright lie, one after another and the sad part is the dumber Americans just fall for it and worse yet vote for it.
the media today is certainly going to ask her tough questions. Relatively tougher than HRC.
PC pick, yes, and honestly, Miss Hawaii had her in the looks department by miles. This was a ridiculous spectacle for the sake of what, I don’t know.
“As a woman in the United States Army, I think ... “
Do you now? Do you really think?
ahe’s just a “weekend warrior”
Ah the ole’ “I can do anything a man can do” lie (disclaimer, I am very grateful for the many young women who have dedicated their lives to the service of our country).
This stupid myth has been perpetuated by years of Hollywood garbage that portrays 90lb girls in leather pants beating up hordes of bad-guys who are twice their size.
While I certainly appreciate young women who want to serve their country, make no mistake: you can take 25 of the best trained male soldiers in the service and set them against 500 of the best trained female soldiers and not ONE female would be left standing.....
Ladies, you are awesome but you can NOT do everything a man can do.....
Miss USA Pageant: Crowd Boos After Finalist Asked About Her Presidential Pick
“Coming in second was Miss Hawaii, who punted during the question-and-answer segment when asked who she would vote for among the likely presidential candidates, Democrat Hillary Clinton or former pageant owner Donald Trump, a Republican.”

What nerve asking her choice for president, that I have no doubt was randomly given to her. Was it? I did not watch Might have sunk Miss DC? Did it sink Miss Hawaii?
exactly
I didn’t watch. I’m somewhat surprised that a member of the armed forces is/was allowed to take part in something like this. I don’t know what contractual obligations they’re supposed to uphold, but I would think that taking part in a spectacle like this would be considered out of bounds.
That said, it doesn’t take much in the way of brains to see that Miss Hawaii did better. This was an affirmative action pick, IMO.
