As much as I hate the Clintons, I’m bothered by a Secret Service agent violating the confidentiality of his job. If a president cannot trust his SS detail not to write tell-all books, he will try not to have them around, making himself more vulnerable.

I couldn’t agree more! An SS agent should keep these things private, no matter how distasteful. And I can’t stand the Clintons.

Good grief! Doesn't the POTUS have a duty to be of good character? If someone in the SS detail witnesses high crimes and misdemeanors, would he not have the duty to report it for the sake of his oath? For the sake of the people of the U.S.?

Where are all the SS tell-all books on the Reagans and both Bush couples?

On the other hand, if there is the possibility that they could write a book, they might get treated better. To me, trust is a two way street, and it wouldn’t surprise me if the Clintons abused that trust.

Just wondering out loud here...

Does a SS Agent take an oath to uphold the Constitution? If so, does that oath have priority over the SS oath?

I totally disagree. If the protected has nothing to hide, why worry about a scandalous book coming out.

On the other hand if they are acting in a manor that hurts our country, they SHOULD be exposed.

If they feel the need to hide from the SS because of the low life harm they cause, then let them deal with the consequences.

No SS agent should have to lay down their life for a lying, corrupt, thieving, politician that expects complete secrecy while they perform their dirty deeds in full view of a sworn law enforcement officer.

How do you know he violated confidentiality? He has an obligation to the country to testify to any behavior he believes indicates a threat to the republic. Honor is not stupid. And the Clintons have no honor. So how can there be a breach? The position of the presidency is one of obligation to the people, not lèse-majesté against them.

Or, the prez could refrain from illegal and treasonous, backstabbing, disgraceful, disrespectful (of those whose job is to take a bullet for you)activity, and actually treat those around them with dignity and respect, so there is that.

I would be greatly pleased if the SS did the same, en masse, to the grifters as the swift boat crews did to frenchy.

Yeah, it’s hard to freely act disrespectful and corrupt if the lesser peoples may learn of it./s
This is a republic, not a monarchy. How long should he have to hold his tongue? He is writing about things from 20 years ago. You think it should be silence forever?

Only if he is a draft dodging, crooked, lying, rapist, traitorous, thieving, SON of a BITCH; or a murdering, crooked, lying, lesbian, traitorous, thieving, BITCH.
Or a lying, crooked racist, America hating, muslem, traitorous, dope smoking, drug addicted, AIDS infected, Homo.
If future Presidents are none of those things, they have nothing to worry about.

Horse apples. If a president and first lady simply conduct themselves in a manner that is beyond reproach instead of acting like a couple of carpetbagging grifters, then there is no need to worry about what the SS detail sees.

So if a SS agent sees criminality he should keep his mouth shut ?

I doubt he would have said anything had she not been running

As much as I hate the Clintons,

The job of the SS guys is to protect the physical safety of the President. I'm not sure why they shouldn't comment on things they have seen that have nothing to do with the present physical safety of that person.

I am not.

The secret service and fbi generally have to give an okay to the contents in the book so as not to have security info that remains clasified, kept secret.

It has been eviewed and cleared by higher powers for safe release.

And frankly I doubt much new stuff will be learned that has not already been reported in one place or another, already.

If the wife of Bill Clinton wasn't trying to re-enter the White House to inflict further, likely fatal damage to our country, I might agree with you. However, she is, and therefore this agent has a duty to warn the populace about her.
