And a water balloon full of lighter fluid for the hive, and a shooting flare.
I hate those damn vicious beasties!
Was chased by a swarm on my tractor, got bit all the way to the house, filled my sprayer with full strength pyrethrin, and drove down there, cracked the wind wing, and emptied the whole sprayer into their hive.
Think I drowned them more than killed em, but it was a pleasure watching them seize
.RIP to the hiker.
I wonder what the poor gent was wearing that attracted the bees.
Pretty rotten way to go:-(
Best Regards

There's probably no way you can protect yourself from them once they are swarming and target you like that. It's something to think about when you're out, especially the south where the killer bees are but probably aren't necessarily those.
I wonder if you took some folded, never mind, this site might be somewhat helpful.

Be safe. Have a nice holiday weekend.
Afrikanized bees? Aggressive.
The girl was really lucky there was a restroom nearby. The terrain in much of AZ is so rocky and full of thorny spiny plants it would be dangerous to run through it in a panic. Or simply not possible.
I’ve heard swarms of bees right in my winter home neighborhood and while out exploring old mines. This is south of Tucson.
Walked into a nest/swarm when I was 14...bees up and down both arms, stinging as best they could. Walked/ran home, and went to a neighbor woman for help. Nearly passed out while waiting for my mother to come home from work to help me. Individual bee stings haven’t bothered me since.
I don’t know about A-Bees (chart says none in NY), but in my experience I have outran bees. It’s my guess the guy panicked and just stood there. Maybe he was allergic?
“a bee’s flight speed averages about 15 miles per hour”.
” Some bees may pursue victims a half mile or more before giving up the chase.”
SOME bees. The farther you run, fewer bees follow.
Bee stings are the largest killer of humans in the U.S. directly caused by animals. An allergic reaction to the venom is bees kills approximately 53 people per year. This number is increasing every year due to the aggressive African honey bee that is taking over in the Southwest.
This young man was from Louisiana. This story was in the news here yesterday.
RIP. What a horrible way to go.
Oh no...poor man. There are active Africanized bees in Arizona. They actually use them as honey bees in some areas now. Hopefully they can domesticate them in time and avoid these horrible tragedies in the future.
I haven’t been stung by a bee since I was a kid but I’m guessing it would take only 10-12 to do me in.
Lots of details in this article, poor guy was allergic to bees?!
Never a campus safe zone around when you need one. Microagressed to death by bees.
It is very difficult to guard oneself against ALL dangers. We hear of incidents like this because they are news-worthy, yet standing on the sidewalk and getting hit by an errant car or in your living room and killed by a drive-by shooter get so much less news attention.
Always be ready for Death but never allow that to keep you from enjoying LIFE!
