World-renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman said he canceled his Wednesday performance with the North Carolina Symphony after he was told he would not be able to include a personal statement opposing the states new law limiting antidiscrimination policies for LGBT people in the event program.
In an interview with the Associated Press on Tuesday, Perlman said he will not perform in North Carolina until the law is reversed.
If Im invited, I will come once the laws repealed. But as long as this thing is there, I have to take a stand, Perlman said.

He needed to tinkle in the laddies room that badly?!
Didn’t think he could find a place in NC to safely relieve himself?
Lechers demand bathroom equality so they can “identify as a woman” to gain entry to the restroom and then rape your daughter. Itzhak Perlman approves!
I can’t stand Perlman’s sound for 5 seconds. Much prefer baroque violin.
Giuliano Carmignola does a fine job with Vivaldi.

How many states don’t have legal protections for trannies (and men who are in male attire but feel feminine that day) to enter womens rest rooms and locker rooms?
Is he boycotting all of them?
He’s denying his contracted services, can he still do that in this country? Isn’t that discriminatory?
Is a same sex marriage a political act since it is not biblical?
Well, I hope he didn’t let the screen door hit him in the ass......
Fortunately it wasn’t khatia Buniatishvili that cancelled.
Disappointed. He was extremely funny playing opposite Prof. Peter Schickele (P.D.Q. Bach) and didn’t take himself nor his talent too seriously. Made very little of his disability from polio.
Oh, well.
"...Do none of these performers sign contracts?..."
More like the anals of history. Whaaaaaaat.
I once loved Itzhak Perlman’s violin playing, no more.
Definitely one of the living greats. I’ve seen him perform twice. Also a great teacher through the Perlman music school.
The symphony handled it the right way saying “as a non-partisan organization, our performances are not an appropriate forum for political commentary”.
Yes, disappointing, for the reasons you stated.
Meanwhile, Perlman has played in both the USSR and China, whose regimes weren’t exactly LGBTQ-friendly, to put it mildly. Another leftist hypocrite.
A shame. The guy can play.

I take it Israel allows all sexes to use whatever bathroom they define as? Go back to your place of birth Itzhak Perlman.
Itzhak. This isn’t Nazi Germany where homosexuals and others were persecuted and executed for who they were.
This is about protecting our children and grandchildren from sexual predators.
I’m Jewish and just learned/saw where my grandmother’s family in Lemberg/Lvov were executed just outside of that city (2,500 in the sandpit; 5,000 in all). I know what bigotry can do, but I have a young granddaughter who I need to protect whenever we go shopping.
The other day I helped a mother/grandmother set up door protection while their daughter/granddaughter used the Men’s Restroom at a Target as the Women’s Room was out of order.
Told them how to do it to politely keep men out for a minute or two. No problems.
It is all for the best. The humidity down there in the Carolinas would just wreck his hair.
Oh brother!
I used to respect Perlman. All of that is gone now. Completely.
