The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks.

No matter what, you won't be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn't asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.

I applied it to the perimeter of my mobile home last week...and it SEEMS to be working.

Good Luck! ;-)

Potato beetles - read somewhere that President Hoover picked potato beetles for a penny each (in his younger days). You might try hiring some neighbourhood kids to do that if you can figure out how to skirt the child labor laws.

Thanks for the extra tips! As soon as we break out of this cold, rainy spell I'm going after my dandelions.

I have Asian jasmine for ground cover in our circle drive. I’ve been battling Bermuda grass in that for years. I’ve tried a product Over the Top which kind of stunts the Bermuda and also stunts the Asian jasmine, but really won’t get rid of the Bermuda.

Any ideas on how to get rid of the Bermuda grass, without having to go in by hand and try to get each and every root? Maybe some roundup with a paint brush on the Bermuda?

I’ve even noticed this year that the roundup doesn’t work nearly as well, as it has in the past. Must have changed the formula or something.

Thanks for any help...and I really love the thread.

Wish I knew, astadoggy. I've heard of people having good results in such situations using a paintbrush and Roundup, though. Very tedious, and usually taking more than one application, but it does work eventually. I've also noticed the Roundup not working as well as in the past. I mostly use it to spray weeds in my gravel and coming up in cracks in the driveway.
