Programming note: Watch Steph Curry's MVP press conference today at 2pm on CSN Bay Area, and streaming live right here.
The NBA made it official on Tuesday morning, as Steph Curry captured his second straight MVP award.
Curry, who led the Warriors to a come-from behind victory on Monday night by scoring an NBA-record 17 points in overtime, becomes the first unanimous MVP in NBA history.
Draymond Green finished in seventh place after capturing two second-place votes, six fourth-place votes and 19 fifth-place votes, for a total of 50 points.
Kawhi Leonard came in second with 634 points 54 second-place votes, 34 third-place votes, 26 fourth-place votes and eight fifth-place votes.
LeBron James placed third with 631 points 40 second place-votes, 48 third-place votes, 34 fourth-place votes and nine fifth-place votes.
Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant came in fourth and fifth place respectively.
In 2000, Shaquille O'Neal fell one vote shy of being the first ever unanimous selection.
The same thing happened to LeBron James in 2013.
Last year, Curry received 100 of the 130 first-place votes after averaging 23.8 points and 7.7 assists per game, while making a then-record 286 3-pointers.
This season, Curry averaged 30.1 points and 6.7 assists, and shattered his own record by making 402 treys.
The Warriors went 73-9, breaking the 1995-96 Bulls' record for most wins a single season in NBA history.
Curry joins Steve Nash and Magic Johnson as the only point guards with multiple MVPs.
What does James Harden have to say about this?
Always sounds like a girl’s name when I hear it on the radio.
I watched that game last night. It was simply unbelievable. As the coach said, “It’s crazy!”
Will LeBron’s head explode?
I remain convinced that he is a circus performer and an arrogant snot.
Well that was a heck of circus he put on last night in OT against the Blazers.
Based on what? I have never seen him arrogant.
I haven’t seen a player like Curry, since Pistol Pete.
On the other hand, I’m convinced ou are one sick, pathetic dude.
That game last night was for the history books. It will be talked about for years.
And what a class act and role model Curry is.
BTW, Portland has a hell of a team too, and given how young they are they’re going to be a force for years. They have the second best back court.
It’s not arrogant when you actually are that good.
I rarely watch basketball these days, but I caught the OT...That was fun to watch.
Only till the highest salary offer comes along........
Paul Allen has plenty of bucks.
Just amazing.
Steph Curry is a very special talent. Most importantly he is a very decent young man
Hey if a girl can shoot threes like that so be it
Stephen....nick named Steph
You must be a Miami Heat fan
No ONE who has actually played with him, had him in the community, or known him agrees with
And Curry is playing injured
I’ve seen a lot of great sharp shooters in my lifetime — Jerry West, John Havlicek, Larry Bird, Reggie Miller, etc.
But I have to say that Stephen Curry beats them all. In fact, I am wavering between him and his team mate Klay Thompson as to who is the best shooter of all time.
