The Chinese government has banned all depictions of gay people on television, as part of a cultural crackdown on “vulgar, immoral and unhealthy content”.
“No television drama shall show abnormal sexual relationships and behaviours, such as incest, same-sex relationships, sexual perversion, sexual assault, sexual abuse, sexual violence, and so on.”
The ban also extends to smoking, drinking, adultery, sexually suggestive clothing, even reincarnation. China’s State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television told television producers it would constantly monitor TV channels to ensure the new rules were strictly adhered to.

I would say this list of forbidden topics really ties the hands of media types, but that phrase might fall under sexual perversion. Or it will if ya know what yer doin. The one that puzzles me is reincarnation. Censoring reincarnation? Doesn't it seem like we've gone down that road before?

I found it kind of stupid that they changed Iron Man as it was. Why make a guy call himself the Mandarin when he wasn’t well, the guy with 10 rings of power? I mean, they had no problem putting a Russian villain in Iron Man 2, and Iron Man’s first movie villain was American.

in the first photo I posted, you’ll notice the black character in the new Star Wars movie was changed and the robot took front and center for the Chinese poster. There was an article recently about black characters not bring profitable in overseas movies and so Disney changed it for them. But they like robots

Its as though China's Marxist rulers absolutely understand these things. They know that rampant drugs, promiscuity, homosexuality, etc... bring down societies - and while they may have promoted it in the West, they absolutely do not allow it in their own. After 1949, the Chinese Government imposed puritanical standards on the people. Homosexuality was branded "hooliganism." male and female students in college couldn't date (at least not in any sense that we know it). Divorce was severely frowned upon, as was out-of-wedlock births. Of course, drug dealers were shot, and addicts locked up in remote farms and work camps to overcome their addictions.
Their lack of diversity is their strength.
