OK I went to the garden store this morning to load up on even more veggies.
There was one spot where they had a few pepper plants left, so I checked them out and picked the best one.
Little did I know...
Now I had heard in the past about these peppers and thought they were maybe a little hotter than a standard chile pepper.
So now my question is whether to even plant it or not! My neighbors have grandkids and dogs come around once in a while so my question is can I buy insurance or something? Put a warning sign or barbed wire fence around them? Something?
Because they are indeed ghost peppers.
The hottest pepper on Earth!
They can cross pollinate so separate them. I got some very hot bell peppers one year because of that.
Gawd! Don’t want to know and don’t want to imagine.
I knew you ain't normal, but jeez...
Thanks!
I guess I will plant it some distance from my regular peppers. We have about an acre of ground, so that should be enough.
I am still thinking about the barbed wire fence, though!
Several years ago there was a BBQ place in Townsend TN that, when closed for the season, would sell pkgs from 5 to 20 lbs for people to have over the winter...They had three sauces...
Regular, Hot, and Nuke...The Regular and Hot were supplied in styrofoam cups for you...The Nuke in a glass jar...
I asked why and the owner put some in a styrofoam cup for me and it ate right through the cup in about 2 seconds....
And people put that stuff in their stomachs!!!!!
You play the banjo, too?
I’d think doing that would perk people right up and take their mind off their troubles.
No heat.
Will go to Lowes tomorrow to find some seeds for these "hot" peppers.
Man, I wish I could unread that...
Hot food good...eat hot food.
Hot food kill bugs...and weak people.
Dont ever drip pepper juice on toilet paper in questionable public places.
Fiberglass can be used in place of pepper juice.
The mat type works much better than the weave.
I can handle up to habanero hot—above that its a stay away from the super hots for me. There are aficionado groups who thrive on the hobby of growing the superhots. I love hot peppers but if they overpower the food with intense heat then whats the point?
OK. I'll touch my privates first.
Thanks for the warning.
if planted near sweet peppers they may cross pollenate. They won’t get much milder, but the sweet peppers will get really hot!
Can be used for pest control : insect, four legged mammal, and two legged mammal.
Always wear gloves ( I prefer nitrile) as capsicum is found in the roots, stem , flower , and fruit ; however capsicum is concentrated in the fruit seeds ! .
Yes the plants will cross with related plant family : tomatoes, peppers, potatoes and should be isolated by distance.
The Carolina Reaper that I grew last year averaged 18-20 mini hot peppers per plant ( planted late in the season in NY ).
For insect control, chop up whole peppers and put in 1 quart water, add 2-3 drops Dawn dishwasher soap(surfactant), set in the sun for 3 days and let it "brew " ;
carefully strain off solids, place liquid in hand sprayer/ spray bottle for use or dilute with water as needed .
For next batch, add 3 more hot peppers plus the solids from the first batch , and repeat steps above
For horticulture , apply to tops of chosen plant, and apply to the underside of the leaves for aphids , lice, leaf suckers , etc.
May need to reapply after heavy rain as the surfactant (dish soap) which adheres the concoction to the plants may be diluted and allow wash-off. Always wear gloves, safety glasses recommended ; nitrile gloves recommended !
That's why I prefer the green Tabasco sauce. Adds some heat but also a nice flavor that you would never notice over the burn of some of the really hot sauces.
Put some oil in a wok. open all the windows, turn on exhaust fans. Stir fry them things until they black an crispy. Remove from wok an let them drain on paper towels. When they cool, crumble them into small pieces. Add to stir fry and chile dishes. The hot smokey taste is to die for! Wonderful. WARNING! Do not breath the smoke coming off the wok, or someone will have to call 911. You can do this with any hot peppers.
Ain’t no way I’m gonna eat something that goes right through that cup...LOL
