I can handle up to habanero hot—above that its a stay away from the super hots for me. There are aficionado groups who thrive on the hobby of growing the superhots. I love hot peppers but if they overpower the food with intense heat then whats the point?
That's why I prefer the green Tabasco sauce. Adds some heat but also a nice flavor that you would never notice over the burn of some of the really hot sauces.
