I'll keep this vanity short ... Mods: please feel free to pull it if it's inappropriate.
Why have so many here on FR turned on Ted Cruz in such a vicious way?
We cheered when we first heard about Ted taking on the establishment in TX to win the primary in the race to fill Kay Bailey Hutchison's vacated Senate seat, in a bad year for the GOP
We cheered again when Ted exhorted us to 'Stand With Rand' when he offered public support for Rand Paul's filibuster over the NDAA
Once more, we cheered when he stood on the Senate floor and urged his colleagues to join him and use the power of the purse to kill Obamacare
We nodded our collective heads in approval when he openly and correctly called Mitch McConnell a liar
And we jumped for joy when he became the first GOPer to announce a presidential run!
So ... what happened? Yes, Trump announced. But at first, not too many people took him seriously. For the longest time, there seemed to be an unspoken pact between Trump and Cruz, where they occasionally said nice things about each other while bashing the other candidates.
But ever since the voting began and Trump turned on Cruz (starting with the Ben Carson imbroglio in Iowa), a large contingent of FReepers did the same and seem to be echoing RINOs like John Boehner and Peter King in their absolute abhorrence of Cruz.
Yes, we need to choose sides, but for God's sake, can't we send that kind of vitriol in the direction that it belongs, ie. Hildabeast and the 'Rat Party, and knock off the circular firing squad?
CYA. If it turns out we were wrong about Trump, we’ll be able to say we really didn’t have any other choice.
So Cruz did once, what Trump made/makes a habit of doing ? Jeez It started with the CNN report about Carson, and continued from there. At least you cited one specific incident that turned you, opposed to several posters upstream who can not be specific. It is hero worship for Trump just like Obama. If Trump follows through on 1/2 of the promises supporters insist he will accomplish, we'll be OK. I'll vote for Trump, but Cruz is clearly a better candidate. I now suspect Donald will bury Hillary, more so than Cruz.
Of course I’m delusional! I spent 30 years making movies in Hollywood! What do you expect?!
So Richard Hauptmann didn't kidnap the Lindbergh baby?
If you all care SO little about this nation and her future, then stay home, vote for Hillary or Bernie, or the latest imbecile in the Libertarian Party; just don't call yourselves CONSERVATIVES and don't come back her and moan.
I would have preferred an experienced governor, which is why my first choice was Scott Walker. I don't agree with everything he said and did, but I live in northern Illinois and got a lot of news coverage about the heat and pressure Walker was under and thought, "this guy will get what he believes in in place."
When Walker dropped out of the primary race, it was time to stand back and let the herd thin itself out. When it got to 4 or 5, Donald Trump was the one who I agreed with the most, and his experience and success in the private sector is going to be better for this country than a MOTS (More Of The Same) career politician can provide. So who I support going forward is Donald Trump. Do I expect him to deliver on every campaign statement? No, but I do expect him to hit the important stuff out of the park. The rest of it people here can argue about.
I do agree that we all need to stop trashing each other based on who our favorite candidate is. It will get a little easier as the delegate count continues to pile up for Trump. If nothing else, I am much more comfortable with Trump as the candidate than I was with Romney or McCain. Let's work toward victory in November and hope for the best.
Cruz framed him. There are threads here that prove Cruz is the Zodiac Killer.
To start with, I don’t like being talked down to, I got tired of the spamming by Cruz supporters, especially the several Cruz bundlers that even today still defend and promote Cruz, while practically never disclosing they work for the campaign. I didn’t realize early on the Cruz lied about his citizenship, now conveniently ignores the very Constitution that he claims to hold so dear. Like his preaching, when it suits him, he wraps himself in it. Worse, on FR, hypocrite Cruz bundlers say Canadian-born, Cuban-fathered Cruz is okay when Obama wasn’t. If the Constitution, if our integrity means anything, we should be consistent and honest. Cruz loses. So pathetic that he doesn’t realize his 15 minutes are way past over.
This is politics and it makes the wise moon bats.
To the freepers amped up on politics, attack ones preferred candidate you are an evil lyin scumbag.
Cruz lacks so many principles he himself lauded. He’s like a two-bit used car salesman, and people are now seeing what Trump has been saying all along. Adios Ted!
LOL....well THAT, right there, explains it. :-)
Imho, its when someone you trusted and believed in turns out to be virtually nothing you thought he was....
I feel like I was duped, lied to , you name it. Cruz’s own words and actions turned me. Not the media, not FR, not anyone else. He is pathetic.
The Cruzers are no angels. The “never trump” mob was here loud and clear. I was threatened by one who said he was keeping track of the Trump supporters. LOL Stop playing the victim.

“Why has FR turned on Cruz?”
I don’t like him.
Yet if you actually read the postings of people on this forum who used to be for Cruz and dumped him, you find that the singe biggest turning point was when Muslims, #Blacklivesmatter thugs and American communist party agitators trashed Donald Trump’s rally in Chicago and Cruz then blamed their rioting on Donald.
You make it clear that you personally agree.
The rest of us do not see opposing violent rioters and standing up for free speech as socialism. So right off the bat Biff has a different definition of socialism than other people here. Including the site owner.
Speculation on CNN...”Carson is going home. Is he dropping out”.
Cruz and Rubio campaigns: ‘vote for us, Carson is dropping out’ with link to CNN article. That’s basic campaigning.
With no examples. A list of thousands of left-wing positions and hundreds of thousands of Democrat donations by Trump, but he’s a solid advocate for us. We live in the twilight zone.
Again, if one prefers Trump, I hold no ill feelings. This argument falls flat on the surface.
