PIKE COUNTY, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) — The mass murder that left eight members of the same family dead, unveiled marijuana grow operations at three crime scenes, according to the Ohio Attorney General.

Those were Mike DeWine's final words at a press conference for an update on the investigation of the "execution-style" deaths within the Rhoden family in Pike County, about 70 miles south of Columbus, on Friday.

“Nobody’s killing anybody over lettuce.”

By golly, you’re correct! These sorts of grizzly murders never happen over lettuce, there always seems to be drugs and/or alcohol involved.

So let’s make bank robbery legal so no one is injured or threatened during bank robberies-what kind of fn logic is that? Live by the sword die by the sword. So the Sheriff and lots of others in that rinky dink county didn’t know about those grow operations?? BS The electric company could have told him. Well we have the motive and yes the killers are back in Mexico no doubt.

This doesn’t happen with legal products. Black markets are run by criminals. Drug cartels and the DEA agree, keep it illegal!

I don’t see this happening at distilleries.

Yes. It’s basically the same population and economic/educational sinkhole.

Coincidence does not imply causality.

Study: Marijuana legalization doesn’t increase crime

According to data from the Denver Police Department, violent crime (including homicide, sexual assault, robbery, and aggravated assault) fell by 6.9% in the first quarter of 2014, compared with the same period in 2013. Property crime (including burglary, larceny, auto theft, theft from motor vehicle and arson) dropped by 11.1%.

Seems like you spoke too soon. Maybe there is an increase in crime and drug use (legal or illegal)

From your first link =>

Denver’s jump in homicides followed a national surge. Still, its projected 2015 murder rate was lower than average among the nation’s 30 largest cities.

If it is drug related, could it be the drug cartel want to shut down these grow operations because they compete with their illegal drug operations? This may be a new strategy to put fear into those involved in pot cultivation outside the control of the drug lords. I am surprised we didn’t see a few chopped off heads like they do in Mexico.

Doesn’t bother Mexican cartel hitmen a bit to shoot a mother next to her 4 day old baby. That and worse happens routinely in Mexico. They’re back in Mexico, collecting their wages for a job well done. An expansion on "Dead Men Tell No Tales"

Dead families threaten no one
