In addition to "grass-roots" campaign workers, there are at least eight Super PACs backed by 'shadow elites' who are driven to defeat Donald Trump and they are banking on Ted Cruz. At least one of these super PAC leaders, Katie Packer of OPP, met behind closed doors at the RNC Spring Meeting this week in Florida. Packer states that a republican candidate should "uphold orthodox GOP ideology." This smacks of irony given her past allegiance with Romney/Ryan and Ryan's inability to uphold GOP principles as Speaker of the House.
The super PACs are calling, texting, emailing, lobbying, and all-out wining & dining the 2,472 delegates who will vote at the 2016 Republican National Convention. Elite super PACs directly interfere and influence delegates' decisions which is an encroachment and perversion of the electoral process. These deep-pocketed super PACs are funded by a small cadre of shadow billionaires. They appear to work in tandem with TeamCruz, yet just outside the confines of his official campaign to avoid scrutiny and violations from the FEC. After months of campaigning, the race boils down to a delegate battle funded by the shadowy money of a few elites, rather than the reflection of the caucus and primary votes.
While some super PACs were focused on advertising, they are currently playing a huge outside role in courting and flipping delegates for Cruz. The Our Principles PAC (OPP), run by Romney's 2012 deputy campaign manager -Katie Packer, is an organization developed exclusively for defeating Donald J. Trump. At the Spring RNC meeting in Florida, Packer distributed a four page plan to promote her delegate strategy.
OPP is the most well funded #NeverTrump super PAC. Funded by the Ricketts family -billionaire owners of the Chicago Cubs, OPP has spent $16,000,000 to defeat Trump. In addition to negative media advertising, they hire workers to distribute anti-Trump literature which can be found at precincts and state conventions. OPP's mission is to organize delegates and deploy any number of tactics with the goal of depriving Trump of as many delegates as possible in upcoming contests.
The culmination of the OPP effort is the utilization of staffers to target every state delegate bound or unbound. They seek to convince them by hook or crook to dump Trump at their respective state convention or in July at the RNC convention. Those already pledged to Trump after winning their state are being luxuriously lobbied to back Cruz on the subsequent ballots. The primary purpose of OPP, no matter the cost, no matter the ethics, is to ensure as few as possible delegates will be inclined to support Donald Trump.
Another anti-Trump super PAC, #NeverTrump, has focused on the logistics of the RNC convention in Cleveland. They have booked hundreds of hotel rooms in order to comp the targeted republican delegates. NeverTrump began as a grassroots group started by allies of former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.). They have endorsed Cruz in some states and Kasich in others, frustrating both candidates. NeverTrump is pushing Kasich in Maryland, and Cruz in Indiana. Paul Singer, the billionaire hedge funder, is another elite that has already wasted millions on negative Trump advertising to no avail. Now Singer is spending his millions scheming behind the scenes to reduce the numbers of Trump delegates that Donald Trump has earned.
Be forewarned. What is being done to Trump by destructive outside forces can also be done behind the scenes to Cruz at the convention. In the end, these same strategists and operatives manipulating this election cycle aren’t just alienating potential GOP voters. They are positioning to help the GOP lose the White House. Again.

All four CO state senators are members of the Cruz Campaign leadership committee. 2 are Cruz delegates. Plus they are Romney retread delegates from 2012.
I think after next Tuesday Ted Cruz is pretty much done. His poll numbers are tanking now. Wait til he loses 5 primaries in one day.

Don't get me wrong, I am not against Trump. He has sparked the entire campaign and motivated citizens in a way that the republicans have never been able to do. I wish he was a constitutional conservative.
But he's not. If you look at his background he is Romney-lite.

1) Is it ethical to entice delegates with cash or non-cash luxury bribes?
2) Quit making false accusations. These are your words, not mine: “claiming that you actually witnessed bribery.” Where?

Yes, but I think Trump is a quick learner and he will grow in his understanding of the Constitution and conservative ideals. We are very far gone as a nation. But we must have faith that he will accomplish much within the short timeframe. Otherwise we keep advancing toward the cliff.
Trump is imperfect, but he is the right man at the right time. Unlike the rest, he has a dynamic personality that will motivate voters to support him and turn-out new voters. His winning attitude is contagious and inspiring. Trump is a class of his own and not comparable to any of the rest or past nominees.
Conservative voters have cost us elections by not voting. They gave us Carter, Clinton & Obama. All have accelerated American decline. Not voting is a vote for a Carter, Gore, Kerry, Obama, or a Clinton.
If the only thing Trump’s able to accomplish is a secure border and freeze on the M.E. invasion then we can stay a float a little while longer. Trump already declared that he will choose from a list of pre-approved conservative judges for SCOTUS. Sessions will help prepare the list. I fail to see the downside of surviving as a nation for 4-8 more years.

According to the Federal Election Commission delegate bribing is uncharted territory. As a rule, desperate presidential candidates swimming in uncharted waters may be willing to take some chances, especially if vague and untested laws create opportunities.
These may not be literal cash bribes (or they may). But if a super PAC is buying plane tickets, renting luxury hotel suites, stretch limos, dancing girls for parties, booze, tickets for concerts and entertainment, 5-star dinners, more booze, masseuse, wardrobes, salon expenses, etc.

Donald Trump is preparing to win a contested convention, fielding a team of veteran Republican operatives to woo delegates and influence the process.

Party rules governing the nomination process, many of which will won’t be finalized until the convention rules committee meets just prior to the convention itself, mandate that most convention delegates vote for the candidate that won the primary or caucus in the state they represent, on the first ballot on the convention floor. If the winner does not receive 1,237 votes, most delegates are free to vote for whichever candidate they choose on subsequent ballots.
That’s why Trump, and presumably the Cruz and Kasich campaigns, is focused on the ongoing delegate elections in the states, and devoting resources toward trying to elect delegates that would be loyal to him through several ballots. It’s possible that more than 200 delegates could arrive in Cleveland uncommitted, even on the first ballot, and Brookover said that securing their support is a top priority.
The Trump campaign’s approach to wooing unaligned delegates is multifold. It could take the form of peer-to-peer contact in the states, calls from senior Trump campaign staff, or even direct communication from the candidate, a real estate mogul and reality television star. The lobbying is expected to be intense, and regulations that govern the process are vague and could vary from state to state.

Hey, Kit - I think a huge portion of former Cruz supporters dumped him for Trump back when he blamed Trump for the rioting in Chicago. Americans can disagree on many things, but for a GOP candidate to NOT stand up for free speech, there’s a huge problem. I’ve always hated Cruz, but him standing with Soros, #BLM, etc., seemed to be a turning point in his pathetic, sleazy career.

In an interview, Cruz himself mentioned the delegates he gained in those “elections”. He actually used the word, “elections”. There were no elections.
I’m going to our state convention as a delegate. Nobody has offered to bribe me yet. Heck - I’m out my own money just to attend!
Now - it would be legal to accept donations to cover the expenses. I forget who can dole those out. I suppose there may be a few folks that would switch sides based on a large “donation”, but I imagine most folks that will be going to the National Convention have some name recognition in their communities (political types, radio personalities, business people, etc.) and don’t want to be remembered as a traitor and a crook because of a bribe.
Now - that is not to say that all the delegates that change their mind are crooks. If it comes down to a contested election, people WILL have to change their minds. Or it will be 1200, 800, 400 for all 368+ ballots. (Hmm - maybe go to one of those shared governments like Iceland or where ever.)
I see your points and I agree with them. First we must survive. But the constitution and the rule of law must also survive. Otherwise it will be for nothing.
