I don't know about you but I'm sick and tired of this election season. FR has turned into a bickering board of bitter bubbleheads, it seems. Where we used to see Ted Cruz as a principled conservative... we now attack anyone who likes him as a "Cruzite" or "Cruzombie"... what happened?
First, there was the attack against him that he played dirty tricks in Iowa by relaying an MSM message that Carson was leaving the race. What would you do? If you are in a popularity contest against multiple opponents, wouldn't you make sure that the votes of an ideological brother weren't wasted on a failed effort? It's a logical reasoning... and you don't have days to debate it in committee, you have minutes and seconds before votes are tallied. That Cruz apologized at all for this news media-inspired fiasco shows him to be the bigger man.
Then what? He's following the rules and gathering delegates? I thought we wanted someone who knows how the game is played and can win elections... silly me. The Trump supporters don't seem to realize that DT is not the closer he claims to be. He is riding a wave of populism but is losing on the rules because he is disorganized and unprepared.
Saying all of this doesn't mean I am anti-Trump... I am anti-Dem whether the Dem is Hillary, Bernie, or Biden. Doesn't matter to me. If Trump is the eventual nominee, he will get my vote to stop the Dem machine's destruction of our great country.
In the primary, though, I want the most conservative in the race who has shown he knows how to win. That man is Ted Cruz. Why he is slimed on a conservative board is beyond me... and it saddens me. Maybe he isn't your guy... fine. Why does he have to be slimed? If he does manage to pull out an upset... what have you accomplished but hurting our best chance for conservative restoration in this country?
My letter to Cruz,
You politicians taking donations from special interests have given China the means to destroy the U.S. economically and China has.
And with TPP you will move any remaining industry to China and flood the U.S. with immigrants (trade in services).
Hey Rafael , Go back to Canada you don’t tell me nor any American what to do.
You don’t fool me with your phony conservative preaher act.I’m an American and I am for freedom truth justice and the American way things you foreign immigrants have no idea about since all you do is lie anyway.Get out of my Country now Rafael Cruz!
Go Trump!
.
Wishing does not make it so.

I worked in marketing for 40 years and taught communications at the college level. Perceptions are always, always more influential with the electorate than good intentions gone awry (assuming good intentions, which I don't -- he was trying to land a grenade on Trump and it backfired in his own face).
Even if your assertion were true, bad communications are those that have to be explained later. Good communications are understood immediately without resistance or do-overs. He messed up. Accept it. He has a jealous, envious, spiteful and disrespectful streak towards people he regards as his rightful inferiors that he needs to heal in order to succeed better in the future. I wish him well.
The State of New Jersey and the Atlantic City Council wished to address a pressing problem their resort city was only viable half the year. They were having problems of all sorts in the off months, including no year-round work, many houses empty in the off-season attracting petty crime and organized crime, etc. Together with the New Jersey gaming commission, they developed a plan to buld a year-round resort with lots of activities, including restaurants, iindoor swimming, a modern convention hotel, casino gambling, et cetera. All these plans were discussed and published in the Atlantic City, Philadelphia, Trenton and New York newspapers for years before the plan moved into the building stages; and the lady with the boarding house had years to know that her city was going to develop that parcel of land in order to benefit the entire city and region.
Bids for developers took more months, as did the finalization of plans, contracts and financing, all of which were widely publicized. I know. I lived not far from there. The lady had more time to think about how her life would change if she suddenly found her old-fashioned boarding house surrounded by a modern resort, lots of lights and noise at night, and lots of cars and limousines looking for parking.
By the time Trump got involved, most of the other neighbors had realized that there was not just one man involved in the offers for their properties, but a long-developed plan for the perceived greater good by scores of officials and stakeholders, that had the potential for benefit to the city, even though they might have to move. The project hired not only many types of construction workers, but on completion hired hotel managers, restaurateurs, waitstaff, cleaners, casino dealers, valets, accountants, materials and food suppliers, chefs, cooks, amenities vendors, laundries, and a large variety of other services. I have a friend who works there still, 25 years later. She wasn't even out of school when all this planning and development took place.
But I suppose you want her and all the other persons who have made a living there to have foresworn any interest in having a job for all those years because one stubborn old lady wanted to see if she could shake down the developer for even more than his most generous offer of $2.5 million dollars for a dump that recently sold for $500K by her heirs. You see, she used the willing media to martyr herself and play the victim, and all the other parties -- the State government, the NJ Gaming Commission, the municipal government -- were all happy to let the developer take all the heat and pay for the court case, which she won. She never had to give up her house. She thought she could shake him down for more for a smelly old building in the middle of a big urban development plan, but she failed at that. And he built around her, because there were many other stakeholders other than her who were begging for a parking facility so that limousines would not be prowling their residential streets at night looking for three contiguous parking spaces and then trying to parallel park -- or just idling here and there, stinking up the place with gasoline fumes while waiting for tipsy revelers to come toddling down the street laughing at two AM when the bars closed, looking for their cars and limos.
Your screed assumes that he alone targeted a helpless old lady for destruction. But you didn't live around there and watch it unfold. I did.
You have it all wrong; because your emotional desire for a different candidate made you grab a negative headline from the Internet and run with it.
Trump and his supporters aren't trying to beat him by making a better case on the issues- They engage in petty nasty insults and lies- trying to destroy both his career and his credibility.
The horrendous lie that Trump has been pushing- that Cruz was insulting 9/11 rescue workers when he made his "NY city liberal values" comment is just one example.
I have no explanation for some FReepers joining in these attacks on a good man.. It's depressing to see.
I hope Cruz watches out for himself above all else. Both Trump and GOPe would love to wreck him. And we need him to stay in the fight.
We need him to stir the people to awareness of what the Constitution means and why it is vitally important that we not abandon it.
(For example: Say a multi-billionaire tries to force you to sell your house to him because he wants to make a parking lot for limos.
In any other nation, he probably takes your property away against your will because he's a billionaire and you're not. You have no power. But in the U.S.A. you have individual rights because of the Constitution. The billionaire does not have more rights just because he has more money.)
We need to be reminded of why the Constitution matters- constantly.
This is Ted Cruz's strength- And why we need him as president.
(I loved Cruz's speech yesterday, and I hope he stays with that uplifting theme, while also reminding people that Trump refuses to debate, and polls show he (Trump) loses to Hillary.)
The problem with Trump is that has made it very clear that he intends to tear this country apart if he isn't handed the nomination- rules or no rules.
This is not presidential at all. Trump has shown zero ability to unite anyone. He encourages anger and division.
I have to ask: Are these qualities of a good president? (IMO they are red flags that show he would be a terrible POTUS -if he somehow overcomes his unprecedented high negatives and beats Hillary.)
Sadly, people may have to learn about this the hard way.
I pray for my country. I'm praying that Ted Cruz will be our next president.
I will state here- that after much thought and in spite of my deep reservations about Trump- I will vote for him if he is the nominee because I do not know for sure what he will do as POTUS. (He might even turn out to be a good president after all. )
Where as I know exactly what Hillary/Bernie will do- it is 100 % certain that they will actively work to bring this nation down.
TPA/TPP happened
Congratulations to our presumptive nominee, Donald Trump!

I completely agree with what you wrote.
I hope that Trump will pick Cruz for his running mate if he’s nominated - but he’ll probably go for someone he perceives as more popular with independents.
