BOSTON (WHDH) - Police have arrested a man caught taking photos inside the Callahan Tunnel.
According to investigators, the suspect claimed it was simple photography, but police are not taking any chances.
Massachusetts State Police said they found Muhammad Mamun taking photos inside the tunnel at 5 a.m. on Sunday.
"How could taking pictures put me in such a situation?" Mamun said. "People take pictures of Bunker Hill, they don't get arrested. Why did I get arrested?"

Mamun, 25, said he is a medical student in Bangladesh currently working with a program at Mass. General Hospital.
Mamun said he decided to go to East Boston on Sunday morning to take photos of the skyline and thought he could walk through the tunnel to get there.
State Police said he walked by a “No Pedestrians” sign and they arrested him for trespassing.
Apparently, even though a med student, he failed to comprehend the meaning of “no pedestrians”.
I know the Callahan tunnel. It is terrifying enough to drive thru the damn thing. Walking thru would be suicidal.
He wanted to go to East Boston. He could have taken the subway one stop and gotten there.

Granted that pre 9/11 and the Boston Marathon Bombing that could or would be the case however we are in an era where police need to think like a terrorist or at least be extra vigilant in regards to our soft targets.

As tunnels go - its pretty ugly and negates the magic hour to photograph sunrise and sunset. However - it does run under Boston Harbor and a collapse from a blast would kill hundreds.In addition - it's named after a local Bostonian who was killed in WWII - the type of symbolism that these Muzzies like to make news with.
All in all - I'm glad they're looking at the guy and his phone.
He said he had nothing to hide, so if this is a true statement, he would have cooperated and given the police permission to search his phone.
He must have had an impressive flash on his camera to take artsy pictures in a deep dark tunnel.

23 replies until someone mentions that he may be photographing the tunnel trying to find weak spots for explosives. This place is losing its’ edge.
It took me a few minutes to find those pics and make the post - I thought maybe somebody would beat me to it.....one last - the tunnel just underwent new construction, which was completed at the end of 2014, which could still show vulnerabilities.
Especially on this coming Monday...

Keep in mind that Monday is a HOLIDAY in Massachusetts and Maine, the Red Sox play at Fenway at 11 a.m., and then there’s the Boston Marathon...the tunnel will be a zoo. Good job, officers.

Logan airport is at the other end of the Callahan Tunnel.
If there is a terrorist attack at Logan and the Callahan is blocked there is no fast way to get victims to the hospitals in Boston.
If there is a terrorist attack in Boston, getting to Logan Airport is partially blocked.
Interesting that he mentioned Bunker Hill. Maybe their target is the Bunker Hill Zaykem Bridge.
The big dig goes under Boston. If the Musloids implement terror, it could cause havoc. I say kick out all who do not deny Islamic terror...
