If Mary Ann and Ginger had been there, they would have been stuck for several years. Men know when they have a good thing going.
The Skipper is an expert seaman, on a "three hour tour", and he couldn't build a boat to get home?
The Professor is a genius scientist who can build anything that might make things more fun but never succeeds in building something to help them get rescued?
Gilligan is the world's biggest klutz, and he happens to trip over everything that might get them off the island?
I sense a pattern here, and the pattern matches what I would do in their place.
