The latest 2016 RESCUECOM Computer Reliability Report — based on 60,000 service call requests into the computer repair and tech support company’s 1-800-RESCUE-PC hot line annually — rates the Kindle as the most trouble-free device.
However, the always-high-ranking Apple hasn’t dropped dramatically in reliability and only slightly in its rank, taking third this year. Its devices account for fewer tech support calls than most and steadily attract consumers, the Mac and MacBook Pro remaining popular alternatives to PCs.
Amazon has taken over as the most reliable brand because RESCUECOM's Computer Reliability Report now includes tablets and personal computers of all brands with a market share of over 1%. To create the ReliabilityScore, RESCUECOM compares a brand's market share against its RepairShare, or percentage of computer repair calls received for its devices, to create a number representing its ReliabilityScore.
Each brand receives a ReliabilityGrade as a familiar way to compare it with others, ranking from A+ to F with C, or average, considered acceptable. Each brand also receives a rank, or a numbered place on the list from the most to least reliable brand. This inclusion in this year's Computer Reliability Report of all manufacturers with a market share of at least 1% allows for more in-depth analysis and comparison enabling consumers to make better choices when purchasing new technology, according to RESCUECOM.
RCA as #2: According to Statista which works with accurate historical data, the last time RCA showed any significant market share in the world wide Tablet Market, was in the last quarter of 2014 at 4.9%, when they essentially dropped out of the market and cleaned out their inventory of Android tablets. The only other time RCA even made a blip was in the 3rd Quarter of 2013 at 1.8%. Some are still available, but they are counted among the mass of "Others." It is highly unlikely that RescueMe-PC's statistics are accurately reflecting the number of repaired RCA tablets to a real market share when they report a completely fictional and mythical market share of 5% that is higher than that of tablets from Acer, LG, Microsoft, and Toshiba, for a defunct tablet brand that never really hit that percentage and only approached it once at a highly discounted price during a close out over a year ago, and only once before even appeared on the list of name brands with a market percentage of 1.8% in a single quarter!
Finally, we have to come to the same conclusion about Apple product's repair rate with this company. Apple maintains it's own repair system and warranty system that does NOT include RescueMe-PC. Anyone who knows anything would call 1-800-myApple, or go to the nearest Apple store, where they are likely to get free service. They are certainly not going to call these RescueMe-PC bozos.

If you’re using a tablet, you’re not going to be a power user and push a tablet to its limits. The most you can do with a tablet is watch a movie or do some internet surfing.
Not true. I'm writing two novels, and multiple short stories on my iPads, have designed two house remodels, and three kitchen remodels all of the iPad in 3D for my rental properties. I've designed jewelry on my iPad for myself and my girlfriend that was ultimately made by our jeweler. Now with the new Apple Pencil, that kind of remodel and design work will be a lot easier. You really don't know what you can do until you actually work with one.
There are a lot of older Kindles out there that don’t do much of anything else besides being used to download and read books. They don’t even have a touch screen. I certainly wouldn’t put them in the same category as a tablet computer like a Galaxy or iPad.
Never mind that RCA tablets generally get pretty horrible reviews...
Have owned a few and every one has stunk - one was replaced under warranty, the other’s purchase price was refunded by the tack-on warranty company when they deemed it not worth repairing.
That’s another huge issue with these “statistics” - apples to oranges would be a generous description...
Many of the RCA tablets were essentially white box Android tablets that were simply badged RCA. . . nothing special about them at all. I saw several that were identical to other brands of Android tablets made by no-name makers.
Their statistics seem to be grab bag of various years and quarters, whichever ones show that particular maker in the best light. For example the RCA tablet's best quarter ever was the 4th quarter of 2014 when they were closing out all their Android tablets at a huge discount and reached for a very short time 4.8% market share and the flared out. The 10% market share for Amazon figure comes from 4th quarter 2015. I could not find where they got the Apple 21.6% and the only way they can get that is to use every toy Android tablet made by every white box maker, whether it was shipped or went directly to landfill. Foot note #1 "Computer repair share percentages and computer reliability scores include tablets" seems to imply the data includes both computers and tablets, but that makes no sense with the data presented as Amazon and RCA manufacture no computers (there is an Rca Computer Sales and Service in Naga City, Philippines).
So it's more Apple, Oranges, plus Bananas, Potatoes, Tin Cans and Cats and Dogs.
I can't figure out how many of which product in what market they are comparing.

Those are the best ones. Anything else is a pile of trash. I have the first color Kindle (got it for $50 about a year after it came out). It was kludgy at best.
I got one of those Fire HDMI sticks when they were available for $20 for Prime users ... Another pile of garbage. The remote died after six months (tried every resync and voodoo ritual there was ... Even opened it up to look for broken traces or solder issues). I can’t buy another one unless I spend $30 on the one that has a microphone I will never use.
I like Amazon/Amazon Prime content, but their hardware sucks and their bastardized version of Android is an atrocity.
For reading books, I prefer the plain Kindle Paperwhite.
