Looks like Dr. Okun survived. I wonder if they let him out of Area 51.

Great patriotic movie. But who taught all those young airmen Morse code?

Loved Independence Day. Hope they get the sequel right. Using the same director I see so that’s good.

Forget aliens.

How can we save the world from the Muslims?

On of the great lines of all time:

President Thomas Whitmore: Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. "Mankind." That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom... Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night!" We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

Loved Independence Day. I watch it every 4th of July :) Will Smith is making a mistake by not being in this one, imo, unless it’s a total disaster.

It will be hard to top the first one.

There’s Jeff Goldblum’s David Levinson being exactly as deadpan and snarky as you require.

But what about Judd Hirsch as David's non-stereotypical Jewish father?!

"You'd all be dead now if it weren't for my David!"

Margaret Colin. She was quite the looker in the original.

Well, a guy who can write virus code for alien information systems as quick as if he was writing a letter to his mom is a pretty handy guy to have around. I'm will to bet those aliens aren't using VB, C++ or Java.

I liked Independence Day, saw it a couple of times on TV.

A couple of years ago, it was being shown nearly every week on one cable channel or another. Week after week after week.

They do know how to run something into the ground.

Looking forward to ID 2, when it hits STARZ or HBO or Netflix or Amazon Prime.

From the first film, I got the distinct impression that President Thomas Whitmore was a Republican. For one thing he was a former fighter pilot and a Gulf War vet and then Will Smith’s stripper girlfriend told the First Lady, “I voted for the other guy”.

But this was one of my favorite clips. “Welcome to Earth”. “Now that’s what I call a close encounter”

It appears the POTUS is a lady.

Quite the coincidence.
