Just in case you forgot in the haze of Batman and Superman not being best friends, 20th Century Fox has released a new TV spot to remind you that Independence Day: Resurgence is coming this summer and with it, the second wave of alien invaders who nearly destroyed planet earth in the original film back in 1996. The new teaser leans heavily on the returning stars of the original film. Theres Bill Pullmans former President Thomas Whitmore interfacing with the aliens. Theres Jeff Goldblums David Levinson being exactly as deadpan and snarky as you require. Theres even Brent Spiner, who played the insane Area 52 scientist in the original film, this time apparently able to understand how the aliens communicate. Watch it here now.

Great patriotic movie. But who taught all those young airmen Morse code?
Loved Independence Day. Hope they get the sequel right. Using the same director I see so that’s good.
Forget aliens.
How can we save the world from the Muslims?
President Thomas Whitmore: Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. "Mankind." That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom... Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night!" We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!
“Forget aliens.
How can we save the world from the Muslims?”
and the US from Obama and the GOPe.
Loved Independence Day. I watch it every 4th of July :) Will Smith is making a mistake by not being in this one, imo, unless it’s a total disaster.
It will be hard to top the first one.
YUP!!
I remember all the people in the theater cheering when the White House went KABLOOEY!
They learn it at Fort Huachuca.
I thought Data got strangled in the first film?
It was also a great McDonnell Douglas commercial.
Area 52 scientist? Does anybody proofread anything anymore?
Ditto!
I always thought that naming it “Independence Day” was an attempt to cash-in on the fact that it was ready for release the 4th of July holiday weekend, and no other reason- it really has nothing to do with the movie.
Even the ‘date’ screens during the movie showing that the invasion was coming up to the 4th of July seemed like an after-thought to make sure the movie fit the title
But hey... it works
Well, a guy who can write virus code for alien information systems as quick as if he was writing a letter to his mom is a pretty handy guy to have around. I'm will to bet those aliens aren't using VB, C++ or Java.
He must have just been unconscious?
Looks awesome.
