The U.S. Department of Defense has released the first footage of its prototype unmanned anti-submarine ship being developed to track quiet diesel-electric submarines over long distances.

The new vessel was launched in January at Vigor’s shipyard in Portland, Oregon, where it has quietly been under construction for the Pentagon’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

During a speed tests in February, the vessel reached a top speed of 27 knots.... (snip)

Even with VLF and ELF, there are depth limits...less so with ELF.

Still, there no way the drone could TRANSMIT anything useful as they don't have 5-10MW and a 5mile antenna to work with.

My apologies TexasGator, I went back to the website and re-checked the picture and it looked at first like it was underwater with the sub, but in fact, it has a trailing wake and was on the surface. I wondered if the pontoons somehow became bowplanes...
