...And the lass that loved an unmanned ship-like waterborne autonomous drone unit.

Old Alpha Male Sperm Whales are not going to like it.

This sounds like a convenient target drone ship for the “enemy” submarines. Torpedo practice!

One ugly ship. Unmanned you would think it did not look so convential.

I assume they have given the ship the option of being manned by a crew. That may explain the conventional appurtenances.

Sooner or later someone is going to have to ‘tap’ on the fratzenjammer controllers to get the do-widget to work right.

Unmanned, but it appears to have a bridge with a door and windows.

A drone submarine controlled by AI and pre-programed actions, is a really bad idea.
Out of the gate.
Any successful employment of them would necessitate them making decision for months on end without direction or correction.
There is no way to communicate effectively with a sub at -2000 meters. And if it rises to 150ft to put out a long wire it's likely to lose contact with it's target.

Wouldn't communications depend on data rate and transmission frequency? I would expect ELF to reach deep from land-based transmission sites but with a low data rate, and sound to reach deep at a higher data rate from the surface ship.

unmanned shipSo what's to stop the enemy from surfacing and manning it? or at least unplugging it.
