Basically, Salon’s answer is “When they’re a Democrat, it’s just an affair, when they’re a Republican, it’s public business”.
I didn’t even read the article, but I would bet money that is what their conclusion boils down to.
I am sitting with frustration wondering when the next foot will drop on the Cuban Mistresses scandal. I thought that this week it would be a tsunami rolling through the Cruz campaign, permanently swamping it in hypocrisy.

This again. It amazes me that people believe the stories in the National Enquirer.
The National Enquirer told us that “Bungling Surgeon Ben Carson Left Sponge in Patient’s Brain! (October 7, 2015). They also informed us that “Homewrecker Carly Fiorina Lied About Druggie Daughter” (Sept. 23, 2015).
And there’s this: “…Trump and Enquirer CEO David Pecker have been friends for years. “They’re very close,” said a source close to the Enquirer.” I’m not saying that Trump got these stories written, but I’m sure that the CEO is doing his part to help his friend Donald Trump.

This story will not go away. Too many people have a vested interest in exploiting it. The real test for Cruz will be the Wisconsin primary. Will he manage to secure the votes of evangelicals and social voters who are the core of the Republican Party? Salon is a left wing organ . They of course won’t touch Hillary’s or Obama’s homosexuality. However principled secular supporters of Cruz ordinarily could care less of his sex life or religiosity. However they do abhor hypocrisy. If the evangelicals and social voters feel the same many will vote for Kasich. If Trump rallies his core base, he just might win in Wisconsin despite his horrible week.

But, start a lie about a man claiming to have standards, and you’re able to convict him without proof.
Before you dismiss them totally, however, they have published articles with details of that Israeli spy ring before 911 that shocked me. One incident was corroborated by the NYT. Google images has some startling diagrams and photos of the 91st floor of WTC1 occupied by some of the art students; much of that remains shrouded in mystery to this day.
They have done an expose with details of the Jeffrey Epstein case you probably won't find anywhere else. Gawker had a few more. I was more leery of the credibility of the latter than the former for bare facts.
On the right sidebar of one of the Epstein articles, perhaps only one, there are articles trashing Trump, but here is a teaser: We must smash the Clinton machine: Democratic Elites and Media have sold out to Hillary this time, but change is coming.
I think I'll read a little of that one; I suppose they are Sanders' supporters, but my point is sometimes there are truths and details in the left media that should be spotlighted in order to discern parts of bigger pictures.
