It’s the End of the Line for GOP as We Know It

It’s the End of the Line for GOP as We Know It By JONAH GOLDBERG March 23, 2016

(snip) Nominating Donald Trump will wreck the Republican party as we know it. Over the weekend, Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus showed the first public signs of acceptance about what’s in store for the party. He finally acknowledged that the Republican nominee was probably going to be determined on the convention floor in Cleveland. Priebus explained, rightly, that the rules are the rules, and that if Trump can’t secure the required 1,237 delegates before Cleveland, it’s anyone’s game. “This is a delegate-driven process,” he told CNN’s Dana Bash.

“The minority of delegates doesn’t rule for the majority.” Donald Trump Doesn’t Have the Character to Be President Trump’s response to this floor-fight talk was to vomit up the usual word salad. “All I can say is this, I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Trump told ABC’s This Week. “But I will say this, you’re going to have a lot of very unhappy people [if I’m denied the nomination].

And I think, frankly, for the Republicans to disenfranchise all those people because if that happens, they’re not voting and the Republicans lose.” Even through the syntactical fog, Trump’s point is clear: If he can’t reach 1,237, he should get the nomination anyway. Because he is Trump. If that doesn’t happen, his supporters will stay home, defect from the party, riot, or all three.

We are doomed no matter what. You and a lot of the other Trumpettes will bolt if he doesn’t get the nomination. I and a large number of others will bolt if he does. We might as well start planning for four years of the wicked witch.

Jonah is an optimist. He thinks that somehow going mano a mano with the Trump supporters at the convention that his gop-e faction will somehow emerge triumphant in the end.

It won’t happen, because he leaves out the probability of Trump supporters going scorched earth on the gop in the general election if it decides to screw the frontrunner out of the nomination. And the gop will have no one to blame but themselves.

The good news though is the destruction of the GOP will allow for the emergence of a new American nationalism oriented party. And the remnants of the gop establishment will quickly be absorbed by the rats, which is where they’re clearly more comfortable anyway.

“There is a glut of new polls today from Fox and Washington Post among others that show Trump is crashing and burning to Hillary by as much as 11-15 points1!!!”

Sure to make the GOPe fight even stronger to do anything they can to deny him the nomination.

Their power means more to them than the country. So do their cushy jobs and money and perks and ego. Thanks to Trump, they are now exposed for the reptiles that they are. Wanna keep this up, GOPe? Guess what - we will NEVER vote for ANY of your people again EVER. Not now, not in four years. Not in eight years. Your motives and lies are transparent to all but the willfully blind.

Trump is a symptom, not a disease, and not sure he’s the cure 0 but he’ll do for now. But one thing is certain, the GOPe created the anger that gave Trump the ability to fill the vacuum. The GOPe caved, adopted the Dem agenda (for the most part), shunned the TEA Party, shunned Cruz, and failed to show leadership in the House and Senate, and gave Barry a Lewinski on the budget. Perhaps like burning off a field in order for new, green undergrowth to happen, the GOPe needs to be burned off and allow for a new, fresh start. Rinse Reince, repeat.

Rules are rules even for Trump. If Trump doesn’t win on the first ballot, it goes to an open contest.

It’s the End of the Line for GOP as We Know It

The GOP as we know it - the Democrat-Lite Party - can't reach the end of the line fast enough.

GREAT!

The old GOP sucked so bad, it was merely the Leftists' Rubber Stamp!

There is a glut of new polls today from Fox and Washington Post

These are the same a-holes who have been releasing such polls for months, often showing narrow margins between Trump and his competitors, like in South Carolina and other places. Only an idiot would take them very seriously.

Look no further than Cruz and Kasich. Both of them are doing their best to BLOCK what the majority of the Republican voters want. They want the RNC/GOPe to decide...NOT THE REPUBLICAN VOTERS.

Cruz and Kasich are totally to blame for what the Establishment is getting by with. In fact, the Establishment could NOT pull this off without Cruz and Kasich’s participation.

I think it means the nation is in for a political realignment. People we used to think shared our political values yesterday will be on the opposite side of the political spectrum tomorrow. It’s been nice knowing you...I have realigned with the anti-globalists.

The perfect play is this:

Trump arrives with the most by a fair margin, but not the required majority.

Cruz arrives with a substantial minority, well short of Trump, but enough to cause trouble.

Cruz asks Trump, “What’s it worth to you to have a coronation today? I have a few ideas you may wish to consider.”

Cruz walks away with some excellent Conservative Gimmes. Trump get’s Cruz’s backing on the floor, and we all smile at one another.

Win / Win.

Who said “The Art of the Deal” could only be played by Trump?

Trump is right also. If Trump goes to the convention with a plurality of delegates very near the majority he needs, and then the nomination is stolen from him because GOPe insiders stacked the Trump bound delegates with people who weren’t really pro-Trump, then the GOPe will lose.

I will write in Trump in the general election. I’m not accepting any other GOPe candidate, because you might as well have a democrat in office. There is no difference. Cruz is turning out to be an insider, but more importantly he is not competent. He doesn’t have management experience and he doesn’t understand the economy.

Romney is way too liberal, Kasich is too liberal. Rubio has penis envy. Bush is standing around on his tippy toes when he has the energy and is too liberal.

Trump is it!!!

Do the Romney, Graham, and Bush endorsements not ring any alarm bells?

Not this time. If they deny the delegate leader the nomination, the party will be destroyed in the process. And the hildabeast will be President.

I care more about America than I dislike the gop, so I would prefer that this not occur. But getting rid of the feckless and corrupt gop would be a great second prize should there be shenanigans.

I’m happy for you. For my part, assuming that Trump gets the nomination, I will probably vote Libertarian.

You’re right. One person can’t take down a party. But several million of his supporters can.
