Its the End of the Line for GOP as We Know It By JONAH GOLDBERG March 23, 2016
(snip) Nominating Donald Trump will wreck the Republican party as we know it. Over the weekend, Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus showed the first public signs of acceptance about whats in store for the party. He finally acknowledged that the Republican nominee was probably going to be determined on the convention floor in Cleveland. Priebus explained, rightly, that the rules are the rules, and that if Trump cant secure the required 1,237 delegates before Cleveland, its anyones game. This is a delegate-driven process, he told CNNs Dana Bash.
The minority of delegates doesnt rule for the majority. Donald Trump Doesnt Have the Character to Be President Trumps response to this floor-fight talk was to vomit up the usual word salad. All I can say is this, I dont know whats going to happen, Trump told ABCs This Week. But I will say this, youre going to have a lot of very unhappy people [if Im denied the nomination].
And I think, frankly, for the Republicans to disenfranchise all those people because if that happens, theyre not voting and the Republicans lose. Even through the syntactical fog, Trumps point is clear: If he cant reach 1,237, he should get the nomination anyway. Because he is Trump. If that doesnt happen, his supporters will stay home, defect from the party, riot, or all three.

Yeah a ton of GOPe paid push polls. Try again.
Put Your Donation Where Your Mouth Is: Who do you think will win the Republican Nomination?

This is simple. If some are so sure who has the momentum and will get the Republican convention, put your money (donation to FR) where your mouth is.
Personally, I would set this bet at $100 as fair game, but I think some are also suffering under the Obama “recovery” so I think a $40 bet in more fair.
Here would be the bet. Pick who you think will get the Republican nomination below by responding BET (name) in upper case. If your choice does NOT get the nomination then you donate $40 dollars to FreeRepublic.com support donation.
What do you say? This isn’t really gambling, just sort of a fun way to donate to Free Republic if you are wrong.
WHO WILL WIN THE REPUBLICAN NOMINATION? CHOOSE ONE NAME, NO SECOND CHANCES LATER. IF YOU ARE WRONG, YOU DONATE $40 DOLLARS TO FREE REPUBLIC:
Choices
BET TRUMP
BET CRUZ
BET KASICH
BET OTHER

I’m getting whiplash from following these polls, they’re all over the board.
No fan of Mr. Priebus but he is right. If Trump doesn’t have 1237 locked down when he shows up in Cleveland then the nomination is not his for the demanding. An open convention is dangerous but thems the rules.
“Its the End of the Line for GOP as We Know It”
He forgot to add the small “e”, so I’ll do it for him:
“Its the End of the Line for GOPe as We Know It”
Now that I’ve fixed it, I’ll comment: That much is true...the GOPe is going to lose either way, and as well THEY SHOULD LOSE - since they are the ones that got us into this mess by running TERRIBLE CANDIDATES and are doing their best to REPEAT the same thing this year, with Cruz voters being duped into doing their dirty work to try to stop Trump.
The other possibility is that Cruz voters figure out who they’re being used and wise up...thus allowing Trump to take office. In that case, the GOP is ROCK-SOLID, as, for the first time in 36 years, there will FINALLY be a president that support the GOP VOTERS, rather than being owned by Big Money. Should that outcome happen, there won’t be much need for the GOPe, but Trump will have to find people that know their way around DC, so he may hire the less-compromised ones...still a better outcome that watching the Trump take the party down with him if he’s cheated out of the nomination...which he will do.
Goldberg like his fellow NR phoney walk on water conservatives will be unemployed after President Trump is sworn in next year.
The RNC/GOPe/Neocon Uniparty elite thugs, who have been the overseers of the Faux Conservative plantations since 1961. These overseers keep trying to trick/betray/control us to stay on/in their faux conservative plantations by selecting their ilk/puppets as our candidates. They lie and promise us conservatism and when elected $crew us daily in congress and as POTUS! NR and their handpicked tv/radio hosts have pushed their lies for decades.
In NH, SC, FL and Nevada, Trump and his voters ignored them. His voters then voted big time for Trump. They won bigtime and broke the rules of the plantation masters by voting for Trump in NH. This is scaring the hell out of our former neocon RNC/GOPe masters of the faux conservative plantations and their ilk, the Club for Growth.
It is wonderful to see this decades old, long standing corrupt political system disintegrating right before our eyes. This corrupted system hates working Americans. It rewards illegals and those who bring them into America to freeload off the American workers slaving in the faux conservative plantation.
We are seeing a paradigm shift with us selecting our Presidential Candidate, instead of the RNC/GOPe/Uniparty elites, who hate us, selecting our candidates.
There is a Black Swan event occurring with the daily suicidal self wrought destruction of the RNC/GOPe, UniParty, Open Border Thugs, DC faux pundits, Faux News, ABCNNBCBS, NT and the left wing fish wraps. Something similar may be happening with the DEMes.
Many of us are looking forward to seeing the broken bones, drying blood and entrails of the Lying RNC/GOP Open Borders Elite, The Club for Growth, the UniParty, their DC faux conservative pundits, their mediots, their phoney pollsters and focus groups, Faux, ABCNNBCBS, their hired tv and radio hacks strewn across the primary states as much as our victories in those states.
We have escaped from their faux conservative plantations. We are not going back for more lies, abuse and mistreatment from our former RNC/GOPe masters.
We will vote for Trump and destroy them! Adios Jonah! Get Lost!
The reason for the stop Trump panic today is that everyone knew the Brussels attack would validate and boost Trump. So they are going sold to change the narrative.
This includes pretending Cruz is the leading anti illegals and anti terrorism candidate when clearly that is not true.
I’m stocking up on popcorn I figure Trump will either be presidential because he can’t lose, or he will go on the attack. Should be fun.
I am a Cruz supporter. But I think Trump is right. If the delegate leader DOES NOT get the nomination. Get used to President Clinton all over again.
Well the way we know the GOP today it ain’t worth saving. You guys at NR are pushing another globalist down our throats in the Bush family’s new errand boy Ted Cruz. Business as usual for you Uniparty members.
Finally, someone gets it. ! The gig is up.
Wrong thread, Genius. Cruz wasn't the topic here. That Pavlov reaction is liberalesk. You need a logic and reason tuneup.
You seem out of your mind happy that Hillary is winning.
One guy - not even Trump - is going to take down a party. The Whigs dissolved because they wouldn’t take a stand on stopping the expansion of slavery. Republicans may dissolve over the issue of immigration.
The new Republican Party had the backing of some of the Big Media of the day (Horace Greeley’s New York Daily Tribune), and the backing of some already popular politicians (western hero John Fremont). Lots of analogies.
Good.
A party that betrays its voters deserves to die.
The main purpose of the GOP today is to block the citizens from stopping The Cheap Labor Express.
If the only way to break that stranglehold is to kill the party, so be it.
GOP-RIP
>>> An open convention is dangerous but thems the rules.
Yes siree it is. And if they are stoopid enough to not give it to the guy with 47%+ of the delegates from a field of 17, then they will deserve to go the way of the Whigs, and will have a whole bunch of defectors like myself to help them. Good riddance.
