It’s the End of the Line for GOP as We Know It By JONAH GOLDBERG March 23, 2016

(snip) Nominating Donald Trump will wreck the Republican party as we know it. Over the weekend, Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus showed the first public signs of acceptance about what’s in store for the party. He finally acknowledged that the Republican nominee was probably going to be determined on the convention floor in Cleveland. Priebus explained, rightly, that the rules are the rules, and that if Trump can’t secure the required 1,237 delegates before Cleveland, it’s anyone’s game. “This is a delegate-driven process,” he told CNN’s Dana Bash.

“The minority of delegates doesn’t rule for the majority.” Donald Trump Doesn’t Have the Character to Be President Trump’s response to this floor-fight talk was to vomit up the usual word salad. “All I can say is this, I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Trump told ABC’s This Week. “But I will say this, you’re going to have a lot of very unhappy people [if I’m denied the nomination].

And I think, frankly, for the Republicans to disenfranchise all those people because if that happens, they’re not voting and the Republicans lose.” Even through the syntactical fog, Trump’s point is clear: If he can’t reach 1,237, he should get the nomination anyway. Because he is Trump. If that doesn’t happen, his supporters will stay home, defect from the party, riot, or all three.

I see Trumpish has infected you as well. Maybe you need an antidote. Sorry to show your Dear Leader as a scam artist whose polls numbers are beginning to tank against both Hillary and Sanders, has no substance, who spins faster than a whirling dervish, and cannot utter a coherent sentence even when using Twitter.

nclaurel, Please understand this is not specifically addressed to/at you, your post is just the last one of its kind I can stand to read.

Reagan said of the LOG CABIN REPUBLICANS’ endorsement: “They endorsed ME - I didn’t endorse THEM!”

Is there no common sense left among these opposing factions? Why doesn’t Trump have to live by the rules? Cruz is trying to win the nomination, for pity’s sake! He’s like the defense trying to win by keeping the other team from getting the go - ahead touchdown.

Should the defense let the other team score because some fans they don’t like start cheering for them? That’s nuts!

Do the fans of the offense accuse the defense of cheating? NO - that’s how to play the game. Heaven forbid the defense hang on and try to win! How dare they!

COME ON PEOPLE, GET A GRIP! I’m voting for Trump if he is the nominee, because it is insane to throw a fit and say home if my guy doesn’t get the nod.

Romney, Graham and Bush can easily spot liberal frauds...they rub elbows with them often while munching crustless sandwiches and drinking spendy booze, all the while coming up with ideas to make the yokels think they have a choice.

Put yer dime in the GOP or DEM slot, you get the same “treat” from the machine.

Say Trump is a liberal fraud. He’s just as bad as Clinton. Granted.

If Trump gets denied at the Convention, we get Clinton.

If Trump gets the nomination and loses, we get Clinton.

If Trump wins, we get somebody as bad as Clinton, with millions of angry voters who have been suckered by Trump’s false conservatism. How much do you think Trump would get done with the Republicans, and especially Senator Cruz, blasting him and blocking him relentlessly? What do you think the midterms would look like? It would be refreshing to see a Congress that can stand up to a President for once.

And I know it’s unimaginable to some here, but what if Trump makes good on even one or two conservative promises he’s made? That’s more than we get with Clinton.

At this point, like it or not, there is just no conservative downside to voting for Trump, even if you can’t stand the bastard.

I think that most of us grew up with the political parties. The problem is that the constitutionally undefined political parties are corrupt, wrongly interfering with the Constitution’s enumerated process for electing a president.

The problem is that when you don’t know the political parties are corrupt, then you grow up wrongly thinking that the polical parties are an integral part of the constitutional republic.

You’ve got the idea. All you had to do is to listen to what the GOPe mouthpieces were saying about Cruz before they realized that Cruz might be their last chance to keep Trump from 1237. Medved hated Cruz even more than he hates Trump. With Hugh Hewitt and Prager it was about a tie. Their idea of a really good candidate is Jeb!, Romney, Rubio, Kasich and Lindsey Graham.

Like anything else during an election year it pays to know what they were saying before they had a reason to lie.

If Cruz is so conservative then why is he proud of being endorsed by Anti-American, GOPe liberal traitors Yeb Bush, Neil Bush and Mitt Romney? Why is he touring the US with national laughingstock and dangerous loon, Glenn Beck?

Trump is far from perfect and so is Cruz.

Because Cruz is wiling to do whatever it takes regardless of whether it is fair, honest, and right or not.

Sadly, to win he is making deals with the “devil” IMHO. He takes money from gay hoteliers and hedge fund managers, yet lifts his hands towards the heavens in front of evangelicals. He claims to be an outsider, yet takes money from GOPe pacs and “embraces” endorsements from GOPe politicians.

He will do whatever it takes to win—we have not seen the last of this...man has no integrity IMHO.

Sadly, you’re correct. I was a Cruz supporter at first. My eyes were really opened when Cruz hired Neil Bush and partially blamed Trump for the riots at Trump’s Chicago rally.

That finished him with me.

There is a glut of new polls today from Fox and Washington Post among others that show Trump is crashing and burning to Hillary by as much as 11-15 points1!!!

Still hawking your worthless sh!t reeking push polls, I see, Steelfish.

Reagan was 25 points behind Carter at this point in 1980, Steelfish. Not just double digits, Steelfish. 25 points, Steelfish. And you're bleating about 11-16 points, Steelfish? LOL!

Newt Gingrich provides proper perspective on your feeble spin, Steelfish:

So if you had talked to me in March of 1980, you would have said, "How can I support this crazy right-winger who makes movies with chimpanzees and is 25 points behind Carter?" And I would have said, "Because I think he can win." Which, by the way, he did.

So give up on your worthless, hysterical, hand-wringing Establishment propaganda, Steelfish. It's steaming bullshit, and anyone who is intellectually honest knows it, Steelfish.

Go, Trump, Go!

Grampa Dave - this would probably be the only way to get him to donate to FR. Then again, he'd probably renege because that seems to be part of his character and the character of who he's all-in for.

I started out donating to Cruz until it became obvious that he was willing to "drift" from some of his stated ideals if it meant leveraging a situation or two and that Trump was the best chance we have of taking the WH - guys like Steelfish can't pry their mind off a direction once they have it embedded and the actual thought process no longer holds sway and they sure don't think that it's proper for them to have to pony up their own fair share - funny how so many claim to support a candidate who has conservative values while they exhibit none of the values they claim to support.....

PS - I donate $50 a month to FR (not a monthly donor with auto-pay, I hit the donate button each month) but will tell you now: Bet Trump - if I'm wrong, I'll donate an extra $50. If I'm right, I'll donate an extra $100. You can count on it.

Poor Teddy Bares. Their smarmy low-life lying lawyer is a LOSER and all they can do is whine and fling crap at the best man running, Donald Trump. But, every time Slimy Teddy Bare tries a new tact, Donald Climbs in the vote totals, even gathering 15000 more actual votes than Hillary Clinton in Arizona (RCP).

The crybaby Glen Beck and the LOSER Mitt Mormon managed to get Teddy Bare more delegates in Utah, but helped Donald take all of Arizona delegates. From now on out, Teddy can only play spoiler. He cannot win. That is now the clarion call from the Teddy Bares. They are proud to support their LOSER, Lyin' Teddy!!!

It is becoming almost comical to see the constant drone about how Teddy bare can win. but so far he is LOSING. Donald Trump has received over TWO MILLION more votes than Teddy Bare, and amassed hundreds more delegates.

Poor Teddy Bares. Teddy is a LOSER.

VOTE TRUMP!

It is the people who Cruz actively accepts into his campaign and the things they say that bother me not those who merely endorse him.

Cruz did quite well when he wasn’t linked to the lowest of the establishment and I would have proudly voted for him in the general election when I believed he was what he said he stood for. I was a big supporter in his senate run. I contributed to his run this time on more than one occasion.

Of course all the candidates wanted to win. But I wanted someone who would never allow themselves to be part of the elite destroying us. If that is all I can get it doesn’t matter which uniparty candidate. But you can rest assure I won’t sit home in November.
