WHATABULLET: Armed Robbers Target Wrong Man At Burger Joint
Bearing Arms ^ | 18 Mar, 2016 | Bob Owens

Two thugs thought they had an easy score when they saw a single man eating in his car in a Whataburger parking lot in Dallas, Texas. They were very, very wrong.

Two armed robbers picked the wrong victim in northwest Dallas.

Police said they approached a man eating his dinner in the parking lot of Whataburger at Inwood Road and Lemmon Avenue and tried to rob him around 1 a.m.Thursday morning.

The man was an off-duty, but armed security guard. He shot and killed one of the robbers. The other ran away.

Armed robbers fully expect compliance. If a trained victim with a plan of action feigns compliance before suddenly and smoothly responding, they quite often overwhelm the criminals both physically and mentally.

I just love a story with a happy ending.

“Cool, there’s a guy eating by himself in a parking lot at 1:00 am. Easy mark!”

Two possibilities: The guy is clueless, or the guy knows what he is doing. The thugs didn’t consider the second option.

Agreed. As a proud Texan who lives in a highly civil and well mannered city, I still make sure I can defend myself everywhere I go, even walking my dog.

The risk of death is higher for the thug in Texas than is most States.

Q: Can I carry a firearm on my person?
A: Yes, with proper licensing ...

Q: Can I strap a gun on my hip in Texas?
A: No, with some exceptions. ...

It's the middle of March - I can't believe these people haven't updated their web site...

Didn’t he know that #THUGLIVESMATTER ?

Clearly people need to be more culturally sensitive!

I would think that awareness of these things would do more for public safety than Rape Awareness Week.

At least in Texas the 2nd isn’t unconstitutionally infringed by the treasonists like it is in other states.

That statement is actually belied by this:

Q: Can I strap a gun on my hip in Texas?

A: No, with some exceptions. Open carry is not legal in Texas until January 1st, 2016, but you may open carry on your own property, in the commission of a sporting activity (competition, shooting ranges, etc.), and while engaged in hunting.

Texas requires a permit to open or conceal carry a handgun (outside of the above-noted exceptions). How is that not an infringement?

Here we have Open Carry and Conceal carry with a permit.

Hey Jeff, I'm a former Idaho native, and the rules when I lived there were open carry (anywhere, with some restrictions), and conceal carry (outside city limits only) did not require a permit. Only concealed carry within city limits required the permit. Did that change? It's been more than a decade since I lived there, but I still visit family every so often.

So open carry is legal in Texas now? That must be a sight to see.

WHATABURGER made a statement that it DOES NOT APPROVE of concealed OR Open Carry on it’s property.

WHATABURGER prefers you get robbed and possibly die.

Not very good for a Texas based corporation, huh?

What sets Texas apart from all the other states is that here I can legally walk out of my house and shoot someone who is breaking into my car or stealing my property. No warning - just pull the trigger.

I can even do the same if someone is stealing my neighbors property.

There is no legal obligation to back down here.

Now, I wouldn’t shoot someone for breaking into my car. But, if I happened to surprise someone, or they surprised me, and shots were exchanged, the perp would not be able to accuse me of not backing off as would happen in most other states.

The laws here protect me - the innocent party.

Hopefully he will get fried for capital murder, since he is legally responsible for the death of his “partner” under the capital murder rule.
