I have been on Free Republic for almost 15 years and almost never post anything. Love to lurk and post occasional response. In mid-February I changed my preference for President from Cruz to Trump. I've seen many others who have made a similar change in the past month.
I'm curious to learn those who have changed from Trump to another candidate, and why. I hope I have posted this correctly. If not, I apologize beforehand.
I changed from Cruz to Trump back in about July.
As a 68 year-old evangelical Christian veteran, I've been completely loyal to the Republican party, supporting Reagan, Bush I, Dole (ugh), Bush II, McCain (ugh - actually voted for Palin), and Romney (really had to hold my nose for that one). I formally left the Republican party after Romey lost to a weak and ineffective Obama, to become an Independent.
I want a strong America for my kids and grandkids and that is the one thing I hear Trump repeating over and over. Of course it could be just a slogan, but I don't think so. Hope I'm right ...for my grandkid's sake.
I liked Trump for about a month last summer, but not now. My distrust of him is profound, but I do like the positions on his website. Cruz bothers me for reasons I can’t articulate, but his stated philosophy is closest to mine. My primary is Tuesday- not sure what I’ll do.
No matter, I’ll vote for whoever is nominated in November because, well, Hillary would be....a nightmare.
If you’re either aware of, believe or suspect the following it would help to explain why you would vote for Trump if running against Hillary:
Hillary left our military high and dry to die in Benghazi.
“Oz” and “TIG,” heroes of the Benghazi Security Team, have endorsed Trump.
There’s no chance Hillary would appoint a non-corrupt replacement for Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia
Numerous friends of the Clintons have been convicted of crimes and/or jailed (e.g. Webb Hubbell, Dan Lasiter, James McDougal, John Huang).
Hillary used her private email account thousands of times to email classified information—a federal offense that landed General David Petraeus in jail for one like infraction.
As First Lady Hillary oversaw the firing and abuse of Billy Dale (“Travel Gate”)
Hillary’s husband has multiple accusers of rape and adultery with nary a concern from her. Hillary would systematically torment women who had affairs or had been raped by Bill Clinton.
Hillary had an affair with deputy White House counsel Vince Foster whom she either had killed or assisted in the concealment of his office files the day of his death (reportedly a “suicide”).
Hillary cheated on her husband with other women.
Chelsea’s Clinton father is probably Webb Hubbell—not Bill Clinton.
Bill Clinton probably has a son—Danney Williams—by way of Bobbie Ann Williams, a black prostitute from Arkansas. Danny was born in 1985.
Bill Clinton had a friend Jeff Epstein, a convicted sex offender. Clinton flew on his private plane to Epstein’s private island, known as “Pedophile Island,” 12 times.
Bill and Hillary probably made millions in cocaine trafficking in Arkansas.
The “Clinton Body Count” links prevalent on google reveal the names of many in the Clinton’s inner circle who were murdered rather than having committed suicide, with little to no inquiry by law enforcement or major media (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3024701/posts)
Hillary’s political life replete with flip-flopping on positions.
Hillary is a disciple of Saul Alinsky (Google “Rules for Radicals,” Alinsky’s book that he dedicated to Lucifer).
The Clinton Foundation is a tax-avoiding, cash slush fund at best.
Hillary said she once landed in Bosnia under sniper fire while video shows her landing under no fire and greeting children on a tarmac. She later pleaded tiredness led her to misspeak.
Hillary will not release copies of her speeches given to Goldman Sachs.
Hillary’s campaign is heavily funded by Wall Street.
Hillary was fired from the state of the House Judiciary Committee investigating the watergate case because she was found to be “an unethical, dishonest lawyer.”
From 1978 to 1979 Hillary turned a 9,987% profit in commodities training (“Cattlegate”).
The Clintons trashed the White House when Bill Clinton’s term ended. They stole White House property.

I'm still with Cruz in terms of who I want to see in the Oval Office, but I understand the width, breadth and depth of what is behind Trump's numbers. I had TEA Party feelings 10 years before the TEA Party. This is a groundswell that needs to be relieved. Trump's defeat, by hook or by crook, could be "worse" than a victory.

So far I’m voting for Cruz.
He said all that stuff and then suddenly he defends BLM protesters as long as they’re turning out to support the #NeverTrump movement.
Only shows how his “principles” twist in the wind, as far as I can tell.
