Who Here Has Changed from Trump to Another Candidate?
Self | 03-14-16 | The Citizen Soldier

Posted on 03/13/2016 1:27:43 PM PDT by The Citizen Soldier

I have been on Free Republic for almost 15 years and almost never post anything. Love to lurk and post occasional response. In mid-February I changed my preference for President from Cruz to Trump. I've seen many others who have made a similar change in the past month.

I'm curious to learn those who have changed from Trump to another candidate, and why. I hope I have posted this correctly. If not, I apologize beforehand.

I don’t think evangelical is the problem. I think TPA/TPP/H1B/CorkerIran/Canadian/NeilBush/SorosThugs are the issues. I would gladly vote for an evangelical.

he didn't support BLM or the BernBots. Why are you stooping to the DU tactics? Listen to what he actually said!!!

so let me get this straight. You are not voting for Trump on issues? Just because he makes the “ powers that be mad?” You are voting then against the “ Powers that be” rather than FOR someone on issues.

It is odd that we can blame Obama’s rhetoric for Ferguson, etc. But Trump should be held blameless.

The comparison would be valid if it were Trump supporters out there rioting. These are just the same old paid disruptors from Move On and BLM with Bill Ayers thrown it.

As you are observing, there is so much mindless drivel posted here that it is pretty much about as useful to the conservative movement as DU.

"He said all that stuff and then suddenly he defends BLM protesters as long as they’re turning out to support the #NeverTrump movement."

Open your eyes and ears and stop hearing and seeing only what you want to hear or see.

Cruz said: "As violence broke out the rally was canceled altogether. "Now the responsibility for that lies with protestors who took violence into their own hands." "But in any campaign responsibility lies at the top....."

Don't you think that when Trump has said he likes the old days when we could fight back and carry them out on a stretcher, then he says he would like to punch him in the face, isn't contributing to a brawl type of mentality? I certainly do. Therefore the way one conducts themselves DOES contribute to situations.

1. So illegal immigration? But he’s pro amnesty.

2. Reign in federal spending? He refuses to touch entitlements and his programs have been estimated to cost 10 TRILLION dollars. Yes. That number was addressed to him at 2 different debates and he didn’t refute.

3. Reduce taxes? I thought he was raising taxes. I’ve heard him say that. Did he change his mind? Serious question.

4. Protect veterans? How? Again, serious question. I can’t find his plan on this.

5. Protect the 2nd amendment? Does that mean he changed his opinion on the assault weapon ban and more stringent gun control laws? Serious question.

So un-stuck yourself already. Yes, the Constitution is very important but a strong President needs more; needs to have the dimension of leadership. Cruz can’t cut it in that department. Trump is on record as saying the Constitution is not a living document, that it can’t be messed with. You might want to consider trusting him on that score.

BTW, the vilification of me (because, I'm a Trump supporter, you talk about them, you're talkin' about me) by alleged supporters of Cruz should be grounds for an FR timeout, and upon recurrence, permanent ban.

Since I am not a Cruz supporter does this mean I can vilify you at my leisure??? Not that I would...

And I don't worry about Cruz supporters. They are out on allege alone. And the winds of change are a blowing.

I hope I’m wrong but if Trump is on the top of the ballot we will lose the Senate and legislatures in states all over the country. He will be worse for the Republicans than Obama has been for the Dems.

That is my concern...big time.

All of these issues are issue that Trump ALWAYS advocates in his appearances. Most of them, including taxes, are outlined on his site. You clearly don't believe what he's saying or advocating and are making up your own spin based on out of context or very old statements made when he was in no position to make or legislate policy.

quit clutching your pearls. it’s unseemly in a political argument.

it’s also inconsistent and hypocritical. I happened to notice that just a few posts upstream from your case of the vapors, you praised the post that called several hundred perfect strangers “bastards”.

knee jerking...lots of it around here lately.

The ones who are supporting TRUMP would rather have Hillary than Cruz.. that says it all since we have a very important Supreme Court decision coming up!!!!

A man who is 69 years old and has yet to have a core set of principles from which he will not waiver is not a man. You either sing The Battle Hymn of the Republic or you whistle Dixie, but not both. Otherwise he is a jukebox....put in a few coins and out comes any tune you want hear.

Chris Taylor (Charlie Sheen), PLATOON:

The village, which had stood for maybe a thousand years, didn't know we were coming that day. If they had, they would've run. Barnes was the eye of our rage. And through him, our captain Ahab, we would set things right again. That day we loved him.

John, after reading your first few comments, I went through this thread to find out if you were interested in actually adding something to this conversation, or if the sum total of your contribution consisted of nothing more than insults and ad hominem attacks. Unfortunately, it turns out to be the latter. So why don’t you sit down, get out a dictionary, and explain your adamant opposition to Trump?
My reason for supporting him is simple. I believe he’s the only one running not already in someone else’s back pocket. His refusal to take money from big donors means he’s beholden to no one. And, as I said at an earlier post, he’s not motivated by a sense of nobility or ideological purity. Simply put, he’s a businessman and a pragmatist, and I believe he realizes our present system of crony capitalism will eventually collapse, and that he has FAR more to lose than the rest of us. It’s not about nobility or self-sacrifice, just simple self-survival.
I’ve explained my basic reasons for supporting Mr. Trump. Now why don’t you, as clearly as you can, explain to the rest of us your reasons for opposing him, and if it’s possible, devoid of those same pejoratives that cluttered your previous posts?
BTW, I will support whomever the Republican voters choose to lead the party for the Presidency. I also pledge to never cast another (R) if the nomination is stolen from the people’s choice by a manipulated convention.

If one day you find yourself drowning and someone throws you a life preserver, will you first ask if your savior is sufficiently conservative for you to accept his help, or are you just going to grab for it?

sure. he’s a lifelong liberal. I’m supremely confident that he will govern as one. I don’t need to know any more than that.

It was believable until that part. No words that complicated ever left Trumps mouth.

LOL! Now that's a relevant answer. I've been around here longer than you and I can hold my own.

it’s also inconsistent and hypocritical. I happened to notice that just a few posts upstream from your case of the vapors, you praised the post that called several hundred perfect strangers “bastards”.

The poster making that comment was talking about our lackluster congressmen and women. You are nasty towards other FReepers. I see it won't change but you'll be the first to complain if someone responds to you in kind.

I disagree. If he is the Nominee, he will get the crossover Voters that the Republicans have been saying they need to win for years. He already is if you haven’t noticed.

Tell me, and this is the fifth time I have asked the question here, which “Blue” States that Obama Won in 2012 will Cruz Win in order to get to the magic Electoral College number? I don’t know of a one and I have been a Cruzer for Years.

I believe Trump has a big chance to win over some big States like FL and NY. Cruz will not get either.

Besides, you won’t Vote for him in the General so you will help insure the outcome you predict.

As for me, I will Vote for the Republican Nominee, no matter who it is. I won’t cede the Election to the DemoncRats because the Republican isn’t perfect. None of them are, but they are a whole lot better than Bernie, Hillary or “_________” with a (D) behind their name on the Ballot.
