I think Paglia on Salon may be unlinkable, so I just pulled up the Wikipedia link, for a word she used in her article, cited on Drudge, today...so here goes...
I am a news and political junkie, as most know. I have watched Donald Trumps rise and been amused by how the masses embrace him, and the Elites fear him. Today, in a web article, I bumped into a word that has fallen out of favor...and is rushing back at us, bigtime:
Moxie.
A footnote to history, mostly. A soft-drink that modeled itself as being the Zip, the Flash, the Next Big Thing. And for a time, it was synonymous with AMERICAN, in bold caps. When the Greatest Generation saved the world from the Nazis because, Duh, they were evil and it needed to be done; when we were sure that of COURSE our Western culture was better, when we knew who we were...we had Moxie.
JFK had it when he committed us to landing on the moon. Reagan had it in bunches when he lay the foundation to bring down the Berlin Wall. It was Morning in America, and most of us smelled the bacon.
We come from seven years of bowing to tyrants, flushing green money into fake companies, and apologizing for America. But somebody is saying, Screw this...I want American greatness back.
I prefer Cruz as a rational planner. I want him for VP or Executive Adviser, and I tell you...if Trump wins it, hes going to be smart enough to hire the best to do the things he knows he needs help with. But you scared Canada-bound Liberals, you trembling intellectuals, you East-Coast socialists and West-Coast celebrities, you entrenched Republican elites and soon-to-be-indicted Democrats...its coming back.
Moxie.
I guess I was too young for Moxie,
and my drink of choice was a Chocolate Soldier.
What film? Got a link? THX!
Camille is a highly intelligent writer with a machine-gun verbal delivery. She’s a feminist who excoriates feminism when needed. Politically, I’d call her a libertarian, but she might not.
If by Moxie, she means an ability to get people to believe bombastic promises beats constitutional conservatism, then yes.
Never saw it before. Very creepy.
There’s a few of them with the outtakes.
Camille is a smart woman. Insult her if you must, but it just shows your idiocy.
I think I saw enough, Thanks! 8^)
Anyone else remember drinking that panther piss. Yikes!!! I guess I didn’t have Moxie. That stuff was murder. LOL!
Truly understand. Haha.
She’s brilliant. I enjoyed watching her debate woman’s lib on a William F Buckley roundtable with the likes of Betty Friedan and Ariana Huffington and several others (this is when Ariana was conservative. It streams on Amazon Prime.
I don’t always agree with her but I wish I were just half as brilliant.
Could not care less what she does in her personal life.
Somebody needs to tell her that Alan Grayson has moxie too.
Paglia is one of the few, maybe the ONLY, honest classic liberal left. Agree with her or not, but her opinions are worthy of attention and respect. Unlike modern leftists, she reasons things out instead of jumping up and down and flinging poop on everything. She has a hole in her reasoning where God should be, but she is still worth listening to.
I have seen people who claim to be conservative, but in practice they haven't acted that way when they gained office.
Standing up in front of an empty Senate chamber and touting faux conservatism isn't being conservative.
With words there needs to be action to make the words have meaning. Otherwise those words are nothing more than methane coming out of another body orafice.
I love Cruz, but if he’s got a woman’s face, I may vote for hajibs
My comment was playful so I really don’t know what you are talking about.
So why are you still here?

Our local radio host waxes nostalgic over Moxie. It’s not from our local area, but is northeast I think?
