jeeez. the fever pit is deep these days. if he is starting a PAC or an organization that intends to financially support a candidate in either the primaries or the general, and he has already said that he does, then he must file with the FEC.

He’s acting as the GOPe’s agent in an effort to establish a strong bargaining position to negotiate with Trump from.

Classic negotiation tactic, and I think some within the GOPe are actually now reading Art of the Deal (or having staffers do it and summarize for them). Trump wants to be President, and can win. Romney can run, but can’t win. But can deny Trump his win.

So theres incentive for Trump to work some sort of deal to keep Romney out of the race. And working high stakes deals like this is something Trump excels at.
