I am at my wits end. I am certainly capable of streaming many debates and town halls to my laptop. But, I want to display them on the TV. Both are smart TV's and have Tivo wired to my personal network. Any ideas how to accomplish this wirelessly?
I stream video MP3 files from a PC to a smart TV all the time.
Download the PLEX Media Server (for free).
Install the PLEX client on your smart TV or Roku device (or Apple TV, or Amazon Fire TV, or use a playstation) and start streaming.
The Plex Media Server will configure your video and even bring up Netflix style menus for the video files you have.
Make that MP4 not MP3 files.
I think you can also do it with one of those little plugs (don't know what they are called) One into your computer and the other into the HDMI input. Check with Best Buy. They can tell you more about it.
Thanks!! Having same issues with the new dog lol
I only have to plug my tv through a HDMI cord and it’s automatic.
Thanks, I have the Youtube app and it works well. I am looking for a way to send streaming video (like sports live streaming links that I don’t pay for ) from my laptop to the tv.
Thanks! Since I sell wire for a living I should support the wire industry lol :p
2nd easiest is to get a usb to hdmi converter. I do a monitor to cdmi converter for my apple which i’m typing on now on my big screen projection.
I won't pay for cable just use antenna for TV then my Internet comes from a Cell Tower for only 14.95 month. I found an Internet site where I can stream Fox, Cnn, TV programs that I miss and lots more. I do also subscribe to Netflix.
Yeah, it’s not good when you hear your laptop making crackling noises with the slightest touch of the cable when it’s plugged in, or when it falls out by itself.
Orba wifi direct compliant router and tv... or buy a dongle setup like this http://www.walmart.com/ip/49158550?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222228037084377&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=83872775432&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=164473445072&veh=sem
Also if that dongle setup isnt good maybe your laptop has wifi direct as and your tv has screen mirroring. If so follow this google search
https://www.google.com/search?q=wifi+direct+pc+to+tv&oq=wifi+direct+pc&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l3.6678j0j4&client=ms-android-sprint-us&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#q=wifi+direct+laptop+to+tv
Oh Lord I never even checked. THANKS!
No problem.
Most laptops and TVs these days have a simple VGA port. A laptop older than 3 years may not have an HDMI out but it will have a VGA out. A cable for VGA to the two would do it as well.
Wirelessly will be a pain.
On my dumb tv on the patio I just use a laptop with an extra RGB out and wirelessly stream video using Brighthouse Networks app via wifi. No holes in wall. Latency is a slight problem. But it is fine...we can watch games and conventions from the pool.
