Schneiderman: Trump University Fraud 'Pretty Straightforward'

Schneiderman: Trump University Fraud 'Pretty Straightforward' by Chris Isidore @CNNMoney March 4, 2016: New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said that evidence of the fraud perpetrated by Trump University is "pretty straightforward." "It [was] a bait and switch scheme," he said on CNN's New Day Friday, defending his and other lawsuits against the school. "He did ads saying my hand-picked instructors will teach you my personal secrets. You just copy what I did and get rich."

But Schneiderman said evidence in the case makes clear that Trump was not involved in hiring instructors, and that he didn't create the program's curriculum.

"If you tell people we're going to teach you Donald Trump's secrets, and he never had any part in writing the curriculum, that's fraud," Schneiderman said.

Schneiderman said thousands of students paid millions of dollars to the school, which closed in 2010. While the attorney general's suit is a civil suit rather than a criminal action, Trump could face millions in fines, Schneiderman said.

"This is the equivalent of putting up a sign that says Trump Hospital, when it's not, and the people in it aren't nurses and doctors," he said.

THE FACTS: Trump’s school only had an A rating from the Better Business Bureau after it stopped taking students, in 2011. At the time the school was operating, in 2010, news sources reported the D-minus rating. The bureau has said the school’s rating fluctuated.

What's facts got to do with anything? Donnie told us all it was GREAT, SUPER, YUGE like...

Notice no one wants to admit when it was called Trump University it was rated as D- by the BBB because of all the complaints. This was just an attempt to hide the truth and rebrand. Like he does with everything else he fails at.

I don’t see where he said he was personally picking the instructors.

Here's the video. Watch about 1:22 in. He clearly says hand-picked by me. It is clearly a fraud.

Trump University Intro

Trump’s Defense of His ‘University’

Instructors Not Handpicked by Trump

In a video promoting the old Trump University, which was formed as a for-profit company in 2004, Trump said that the educational program would have “professors and adjunct professors” that were “handpicked” by him. Trump: We’re going to have professors and adjunct professors that are absolutely terrific. Terrific people. Terrific brains. Successful. We’re going to have the best of the best. And, honestly, if you don’t learn from them, if you don’t learn from me, if you don’t learn from the people that we are going to be putting forward — and these are all people that are handpicked by me — then you’re just not going to make it in terms of the world of success.

But Trump didn’t personally select “all people” on staff, as he claimed in the promotional video, or even “many” of them, as he said during the recent interview on “Fox News Sunday.” Michael Sexton, the former president of Trump University, who was deposed in 2012 for a civil case against Trump and the real estate program, admitted that the course instructors were not personally approved by Trump.

Questioner, July 25, 2012: And were any of these other speakers at any of those events hand picked by Donald Trump? Sexton: None of our instructors at the live events were hand picked by Donald Trump.

Trump was also grilled about the qualifications of the school's instructors, who marketing materials said were "Donald Trump's handpicked instructors."

But he couldn't identify the instructors when asked to by the opposing lawyer, and admitted he was not involved in hiring them.

"I would see resumes," Trump said. But he said the final decision was up to Trump University president Michael Sexton. "I told him...I want very good people," Trump said.

But when Trump was asked to watch a tape about what one instructor was telling students, even he questioned the teacher's Trump qualifications.

"In watching, it sounded to me like he...embellished his record and he slipped through the cracks," Trump said.

So much for personally hand picking the Instructors. Donnie Trump, Manhattan Mouth, Con Man and FRAUD!

It’s not just cooking burgers at Hamburger U. They teach running the business, including finances, inventory control, management techniques etc. More than most colleges, and definitely more than flipping houses.

Schneiderman is a dem AG who has consistently misused his powers to punish enemies of Dems and ignores serious crimes by dems. Tremendous amount of factual information - documents and news articles on the site below.

http://www.98percentapproval.com/

98% of Trump University students rated the program “excellent” while only *4% of New York State registered voters rated Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s performance as “excellent” and Schneiderman thinks he could be the next governor?

The documents below were recently filed in support of our motion to dismiss Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s baseless lawsuit concerning Trump University. While the motion focuses primarily on the AG’s unexplainable failure to commence this lawsuit within the applicable 3 year statute of limitations, the papers also chronicle the AG’s unprofessional and, arguably, unethical attempt to use the media to publicize the lawsuit and discuss the merits to garner more attention and publicity for himself in his effort to seek higher office. Additionally, the papers also discuss Trump’s upcoming filing with the NY Joint Commission on Public Ethics in response to the AG’s targeted solicitation of campaign contributions from members of the Trump family and their representatives during the pendency of his investigation.

It’s still in court. Civil cases are not speedy.

He was told by the State of New York not to call it a “university” and imply that it was a degree granting, accredited institution, and he ignored them and kept on advertising it that way. It was really just a set of “get rich quick” seminars, for which the “professors” often did not even show up and which was devoted mainly to getting the attendees, most of them hapless losers, to buy yet another round of “classes.”

Which is it, 98% rated the program as excellent or
Donald refunded more than 25% of the participants their money back?

He’s testified to one, lied about the other. Want to guess which is which?

Trump lent his name to a Mexican real estate deal years ago. People put money down for a place and then the place was never built. I saw it on 60 minutes years ago. Trump said all he did was get paid for the developer to use his name. He ain’t the best candidate but he will win and I so hope he does the right things for the country and not himself.

Right, that is why he returned 25% of the participants money.

He’s just a nice guy .......................who tries to take old ladies property, hires Illegal workers, Import seasonal workers,
smears a couple of old ladies because he wants their property along his golf course, calls everyone liars that doesn’t agree with him, commits multiple acts of Adultry etc.

But wait he just said he doesn’t like to settle cases because it fosters more...So why would he return 25% of the participants money? (Hint: A lawyer might have suggested it!)

I think there is more to it than that. The people who are attending the “Hamburger University” learn about restaurant management and running a multi-million dollar business. Hamburger flippers and low-level managers are trained at a local or regional level, not at Oak Brook. You can find some information about the curriculum and courses online.

Oh how clever you are! And Trump bribed the BBB for an A rating and made up the 98% approval rating from his students.

TRUMP UNIVERSITY HAS A 98% APPROVAL RATING. SO WHY IS NY AG ERIC SCHNEIDERMAN GOING AFTER THEM?

When did he testify and what did he say? What was the lie? LInks/quotes or something?

Modern day RE courses are structured the same way. Why would a successful RE person sit in an office all day to help me, a person unknown?? And it costs 10K to learn but you can’t use your own money so they can advertise that in their promos. Anyone who is too dim witted to evaluate what’s presented should remember it’s a let the buyer beware. There are plenty of get rich schemes for those easily sucked in. And some do succeed. I was smart enough to evaluate and pass. There are no guarantees of success and your failures aren’t rectified with a law suit. A person who can’t make an intelligent decision on that offer is probably not going to succeed by taking the course. They lack critical judgement skills. No one forced them into the course and they are looking for someone to blame for their short comings.

He openly admits that he is no politician and this proves it. A true politician is well schooled in lawyer speak and would have worded it more carefully.

Oh please. tRump is too a politician and very well schooled in “lawyer speak” since he has so many of then on the payroll to deal with all the lawsuits he wants to file. tRump just doesn’t want to think before he opens his pie hole.
