quoting Mussolini is exactly morally analogous to quoting Hitler

Whoops! Matt Walsh walks straight into the Godwin's Law tripwire!

Thanks for playing, Matt!

Better luck next time! :)

That video was a lie simply because there are newer videos where Mr. Trump state how and when he changed his mind.
Nonsense!

There is nothing dishonest about that ad. Trump just didn't like it (because it was effective).

So, how "old" does a video have to be before a politician can expunge it from the public record?

Would you apply the same rules to, say, Hillary Clinton? Does she get to sue anyone who plays an "old" video of her saying something that is inconsistent with her current position? Or is this a "Trump-only" rule?

The idea of only allowing a "responsible" media is a standard ploy in totalitarian states to silence any criticism, where it's the leaders who get to define "responsible".

I'm astonished that anyone here would fall for such an obvious attack on free speech and free press, but then I'm often astonished at the things Trump's cult accepts from their leader.

Presidents have no bearing over a civil case such as libel.

Anyone who take Trump at his word on any of the crap that comes out of his mouth should be examined. He does it for attention. He does it to throw red meat to the people who support him.

He is not my candidate, but they all are blowhards about the “stuff” they are going to do. Just read their tax plans. None of them have any chance of happening.

I keep telling people that Trump just threw the "libel" thing out there to suck all the oxygen out of the C-RuzBio campaigns over the weekend.

Trump KNEW that most, if not ALL of the Media would go batsh*t crazy over a threat to their precious little libel monopoly.

Oh - and anyone knows that if Trump became president and made such a move to threaten the press's libel exemption, that they would excrete enough bricks to build a second wall next to the first Wall the Mexicans are going to be forced to build...

So, it's a two-fer. :)

So let the games start. Cruz nuanced his “issue” with Trump like a true politician.
It's hardly "nuanced" when you play a video of someone, in contact, with the date of the recording clearly visible on screen.

Cruz was making the point that Trump has flip-flopped on this critical issue. Trump is free to make his own ad, explaining that this is one of the many things on which he has "nuanced" positions.

By the way, when Trump claimed that his lawyers assured him that Cruz was a natural-born citizen, but then reversed his position when Cruz started catching up, and then admitted during a debate that the reason he was attacking Cruz was because Cruz was catching up...

Doesn't that seem a bit "nuanced" on Trump's part?

In this case Trump has explicitly said he does not hold that position on abortion anymore.

He began changing his mind on abortion starting 2008 long before he decided to run for president. He didn’t change positions to simply get votes.

It isn’t about the age it is about the accuracy and the video does not accurately depict Mr Trump’s current position on abortion.

So yes, When Senator Cruz used the video was dishonest.

We have libel laws on the books already. What The Donald really wants are libel laws written specifically for him to exploit.

No, Slyfox - Trump wants you talking about libel laws that are never going to change ALL WEEKEND so that the clipper ship Trump can ghost into Tuesday under a fair wind and sunny skies, and no eCubans in sight. :)

Looks like his plan is succeeding. LOL!

Why is it Cruz' job to publicize Trump's talking points?

Again, would you give Hillary Clinton the same pass? Would you object to anyone playing a video of Clinton from, say, her Benghazi Hearings performance, because her position has "changed" since then?

Trump has flip-flopped on numerous important issues. It is certainly fair game to publicize that.

Trump can run his own damn rebuttal commercial if he wants, but he didn't do that. He tried to use the very laws he's complaining about to try to unfairly silence someone simply because he didn't like the message.

I don't believe he's dumb enough to use a pen and a phone.

I do believe he's smart enough to harness the will of the people that is propelling him to the White House to corral congress with melted phone lines to get the will of the people through their elitist gourds.

“Trump has flip-flopped on numerous important issues. It is certainly fair game to publicize that. “

The add I saw did not accuses him of flip-flopping it claimed that was his actual position. If you are referring to different add then I apologize. I was actually surprised to see a political here since we can’t vote for president

If PIAPS suddenly said: “Oh what I said about Benghazi matters and that means I should be prosecuted for my crimes” (Which would be the flip of the position) Yes I would support that.

“Then Trump proceeded to retweet a quote from Benito Mussolini, the Fascist dictator, and later admitted that he knew the quote was from Mussolini but decided to distribute it anyway”

Gawker Twitter bot fed Donald Trump a Mussolini quote

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/gawker-tricked-donald-trump-with-mussolini-twitter-bot/

Besides which, the mussolini quote did not originate with him. It dates back to an old roman proverb: “It is better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand days as a lamb.” Its been used countless times by many others before mussolini eventually used it.

HERE is the actual ad.

The original complaint was that Cruz was somehow "lying" about it being his current position. The ad clearly displays the date of the video, so that complaint is phony.

The ad doesn't draw any conclusions about Trump's position, beyond showing that he has been "very pro-choice", "pro-choice in every respect". That is a truthful statement, and is very relevant to anyone who cares about the abortion issue.

Again, why is it's Cruz' job to put on commercials with Trump's "position of the week"? Trump can try to refute that ad with his own ad. He certainly has the money for it.

But instead, Trump tried to use his lawyers to bully Cruz into pulling the ad, just because Trump didn't like it.

There is simply nothing you can say or do to shake the Faith of a Trumpeteer. I gave up a few weeks ago. The Wall! That’s all anyone cares about. As if a wall is going to solve all of America’s problems. Well we got a lot of problems that aren’t gonna be fixed by that wall. But nobody cares.

Also, Trump asked for clarification on these groups he is supposed to disavow. I will therefore conclude he does not run with that crowd and does not know of their beliefs.

Trump’s father was arrested after 1927 Klan riot in N.Y.

Actually, all I know of them is from folks like you!
My friends and I will have nothing to do with that sort of rabble.

Please do tell everyone what it is like to be on the inside of the KKK!

Both were trouble for their nations

Yeah, your snarky attempt to insult me aside, I wouldn’t know what it’s like to be on the inside of the KKK. But I do know what the KKK is all about and what it stands for, and unlike Trump...I don’t lie about what I know, like he just did.

That’s what, 90 years ago???
Please do write back and let everyone know what the inside of todays Klan is all about.
You seem to have a keen interest in the Klan and follow their activities.

My crew and I will have nothing to do with the Klan, and no amount of chirpping and smearing will change that fact!

Please check your TDS!!!!

Well, you come accross as someone with first hand knowledge.
If you rely on third or fourth hand rumours, you really know nothing at all.

Thanks for clearing up the fact you really do not know whats going on
