Cruz' Jake Tapper Post-Debate Statement of Support for Rubio Over Trump

Posted on 02/26/2016 8:24:36 AM PST by Be Careful

Granted that the debate rhetoric was punishing. However, the stated fact that Cruz would support Rubio over Trump just goes ta show ya....that at the end of the day the 'LAWYER POLITICIANS' only know how to stick together. Really Cruz? You would go with Open Borders rather than get past your personal animus?

At face value, you are correct re Planned Parenthood....BUT! he is keeping a bridge open to pull crossover votes in the general, which will allow some (or more) centrist dems to be able to justify to themselves....a cross over vote.

Wow. That picture says it all. I could never really warm to Cruz, but was willing to accept that he might have been Trump’s VP pick early on. No more. I’m so glad his true colors came out. Cruz is a traitor.

Some talk like Trump has a perfect record on immigration, why did Trump criticize Romney for being to harsh on immigration? What was in Romney’s plan that was to harsh?

Good point. Let’s get back to the citizen who had a duty to serve in legislative affairs and return home to run the farm or business.

Rubio worked with Schumer to pass the Gang of 8 bill that would have given amnesty to 12 to 20 million lawbreakers, tripled legal permanent immigration to 33 million over the next decade and doubled guest worker programs to 1.4 million a year.

That is a lot of baggage.

“Cruz would support Rubio over Trump just goes ta show ya....that at the end of the day the ‘LAWYER POLITICIANS’ only know how to stick together. “

Or it goes to show you that if you call your one natural ally a sleazy, slimy, nasty, cheating, liar (the Biggest Liar you’ve EVER known), at some point people get sick of your shtick and schlong you.

I mean, are you Trump supporters so dense you couldn’t see this coming? And are you so dense you can’t see this will be the foreseeable future under a Trump presidency, lurching from one fed up former ally to another, all steamrolled by the Donald?

And I’m saying this as someone who thinks Trump is far far better than Hillary. But come on, shut the Donald up and you will do much better.

An amnesty bill will make it thru a Ryan run house. There are enough Reps along with the Dems to pass it easily.

I was actually on the fence until that remark came out. Now there is NFW that I’ll vote for Ted. To back Amnesty Rubio is a big mistake, but to tell everyone about it ahead of Super Tuesday was just plain stupid.

Put a fork in Ted, he’s done now.

I know things like Planned Parenthood are huge issues for many, but we are in such DEEP trouble, I think the “social issues” can wait until we get this country on an even keel again. Then we can argue and debate them to our heart’s content.

I doubt anyone onboard was discussing domestic political issues while the Titanic was sinking. And sinking we are.

Cruz really jumped the shark with that statement. He has been playing the outsider roll and now supports the ultimate insider Rubio. Give me a break.

Baggage that Hillary will use to sink Rubio? Not as weighty as the Trump baggage, which could give the presidency to Hillary. This is Cruz’s point.

Out of curiosity, how do you explain away Trump’s baggage in this area? How does Trump overcome the issues with ethics, Clinton Foundation contributions, and the like?

Baggage that Hillary will use to sink Rubio?

Rubio has other personal baggage that will surface. Credit card use? Possible mistress? Ties to the gay community? I suspect that these stories will start coming out sooner rather than later. Trump alluded to one, the sale of his house to a lobbyist at a sizable profit followed by some payback in the form of legislation.

Rubio's smirking and allegations against Trump will elicit some major revelations about him. They won't come from the Trump camp directly. They will be from other sources. Trump fights like a Democrat, which is why he will destroy Hillary in the general election. Trump is a street fighter who will get even with Marco and Ted. And it will be soon. Count on it.

Out of curiosity, how do you explain away Trump’s baggage in this area? How does Trump overcome the issues with ethics, Clinton Foundation contributions, and the like?

Trump is an outsider. A private businessman. He is not voting on legislation and making public policy that affects everyone. Rubio and Cruz have spent the vast majority of their adult lives feeding at the public trough. Trump will have no problem defending himself as a private citizen.

The political class is bought and paid for by their corporate paymasters and special interests. Trump has a piece of them all and knows how the system works. He donated money to Cruz. I am sure that Trump has lots of dirt on them all. He will use it at the appropriate time.
