Cruz' Jake Tapper Post-Debate Statement of Support for Rubio Over Trump

Posted on 02/26/2016 8:24:36 AM PST by Be Careful

Granted that the debate rhetoric was punishing. However, the stated fact that Cruz would support Rubio over Trump just goes ta show ya....that at the end of the day the 'LAWYER POLITICIANS' only know how to stick together. Really Cruz? You would go with Open Borders rather than get past your personal animus?

Understandable. Cruz has rightly decided that if Trump isn't slowed on 3/1 he will have sown up the nomination.

Just as likely Trump will point to this as Cruz collaborating with the GOPe.

Its called campaign strategy.

Cruz isn’t choosing Rubio over Trump. He’s choosing Gang of 8 Amnesty and Obamatrade over Trump. Both happen with POTUS Rubio. Neither happen with POTUS Trump. The mask is off: Senator Principled Conservative is just fine with amnesty and Obamatrade.

I’ve said that on this forum for the last month. Cruz will play the role of the Establishment’s Judas Iscariot. Color me surprised...

More made of this than is deserving to be made. Cruz obviously wants to win. He supports no one else. Why he said he was good friends with Rubio is probably because he is a fellow senator, he has been criticized for not getting along (unfairly) and he wants all of Rubio’s supporters to go to him should Rubio back out.

Anyways, don’t think Cruz supporters all agree with this. Some do and some don’t. Some will vote for neither Trump nor Rubio. Some Trump. It varies.

If so, Ted is once again getting some bad advice.

He seems to be doing everything he can to make me not like him anymore.

Cruz is not serious about stopping illegal immigration. His support of Rubio proves that.

Cruz has zero chance of winning the nomination. Zero. No matter what happens in Texas. The only job assigned to him now is to stop Trump and elect Rubio at a brokered convention.

At this point a vote for Cruz is a vote for the GOPe and open borders.

Yes, like those posting similarly on FR; the real patriots will vote for the GOP nominee against Hillary; the odds are very high it will be Trump, with Rubio second, and Cruz a very distant third. Rubio just pawned Cruz though, so much for his principles, he was shopping around a deal for himself, another insider.

He is placing his bet with the establishment. Same thing he did with Chris McDaniel.

Cruz is a “Principled Judas Iscariot”. And to further his standing with the RNC will help ‘Amnesty Cabana Boy” . What a guy.

Except for Dr. Carson, who likely is going no further, Trump is the only candidate in the race, both parties, who is not a politician. I’ve been a FReeper for a long time, and all of that time, FReepers have been BEGGING for a non-lawyer, non-politician to break the stranglehold the “political class” has had on us for decades.

One FINALLY comes along, with a great chance to destroy the lawyer-politician monopoly for good, and half the FReepers can’t contain their disgust for him.

Just makes me shake my head.

Cruz just negated any remaining doubt of whether he’s an establishment politician. LOL!
