A tax return will not necessarily establish personal net worth.

Exactly. He could have a whole pile of money sitting somewhere offshore that is non-taxable and not required to be reported.

“A tax return will not necessarily establish personal net worth.”

Exactly. Shows how stupid some people are.

No, a tax return will not establish net worth. Neither does the financial disclosure returns of the election rules.

So how will his net worth be determined?

The average American taxpayer doesn't disclose their worth on a tax form... Only the amount earned in a calendar year. Romney Is just trying to goad him....

Right, what it might show is charitable giving.

I’ll vote for whoever is nominated.

A tax return can not, nor can it establish personal net worth.

Of course not. That’s in the first paragraph of the article.

But the K-1s, schedules, etc, are very helpful in figuring out net worth.

It’s a critical part of the data.

You are right a tax return does not show net worth. However, as someone who has analyzed personal wealth for commercial lending, I can tell you tax returns are an integral part of the "guarantor analysis". So basically I can take Trump's financials which he already disclosed, bump them up against the tax return and assess his real net worth.

However, what I think Trump is concern about - and this comes from my years of reviews on real estate investors, he is asset rich and cash poor. If true, then his claim he can self fund is in serious jeopardy. I am positive this is the angel the Mitt is looking for.

Those returns detail his income sources. No businessman likes to reveal the sources of his income and how he conducts business.

Don/t do it Donald.

Why should he show the voracious anti-trump media how he does business.
