Why aren't millennials eating cereal? Apparently, it's just too much work.
Almost 40% of millennials surveyed by Mintel said that cereal was an inconvenient breakfast choice, because they have to clean up after eating it, reports the New York Times.
Instead, younger consumers are turning to convenient options with minimal cleanup that can be eaten on the go, from yogurt to fast-food breakfast sandwiches.
Cereal sales dropped 5% from 2009 to 2014, despite the fact that more Americans are eating breakfast than ever before. ...

Snap, Crackle, Pop - Rice Krispies!
IOW, they’d rather generate more waste/carbon footprint that they can then blame on someone else.
I thought sugar was the reason to eat cereal.
Plain yogurt?! Yuck!
That’s the reason kids eat it, but they aren’t the ones buying the cereal.
Breakfast cereal records... more of them then you light think.

I think there was one about John Glenn’s Mercury spaceflight in the early 60s, but maybe I just imagined that.
When I was a kid, we thought it was _the_ neatest thing that Kelloggs and Post (and General Mills?) offered six-packs of miniature single-serving cereals, all different types in one pack. It was a real treat when our parents brought home one of those packs.
You had to lay the little box down flat, tear open the top on the dotted line, cut open the waxed paper bag inside with a pair of scissors, and pour in the milk. It was great. Those little boxes were so special. The “single serve” boxes were also available at some coffee shops. Do they still have them? I saw a mini-cereal box display at the coffee shop at the old (demolished in 2010) Transbay Terminal in San Francisco.
I’ve tried cooking bacon different ways and up until recently my favorite was doing it in the oven until I saw this at Walmart one day and decided to try it on a lark. I love it. Unlike the old, ribbed microwave trays it’s really easy to clean and stores compactly. It make better bacon than the oven.

I’m bringing it back to Africa with me next time I’m home. It’s a “must have” item for me.
cereal is too expensive and takes too much time in the morning. My students stop and get a breakfast sandwich of some sort on the way to school - most are only a $1 and will stick to their rib until lunch time. They tend to eat cereal as an after school snack.
Two packets of instant oatmeal, seasoned with brown sugar or honey with heavy cream is a tasty treat that holds me till lunch. It was the one easy breakfast before work that wouldn’t wear off at 10am...
Hmmmm Bookmarked. Thanks!
Yes! Thanks so much!
(I’m gonna put these in my little book this time so it doesn’t escape.)
Omigosh, you eat it RAW?! LOL That would be to me. I like my bacon so crisp it practically shatters once it’s been blotted. :-) DH likes his practically raw, though.
LOL I’m a weirdo (ya probably know this already) I won’t eat fat on any kind of meat except bacon- & there, I’m looking for as much fat as possible.
Is this what they call a ‘’rasher’’? We used to have a British grocery here. I need to check & see if it’s still around. They used to advertise on PBS when the British comedies were on. (I miss those- & Questions for the PM)
:-) Our microwave is pretty much just a prop. It’s cute & very nice (it was a gift), but we use it about 3 or 4 times a year. Maybe because I like my bacon real crisp, I always burn the devil out of it. So, in that regard, the skillet works better for me.
I’m using Coffee-Mate this morning, as I’ve run out of 1% milk.
Tis a sad day in America.
The vitamins they use in supplementing breakfast cereals are the cheapest form available, and they have limited bioavailability.
That’s partly true, but when compared to all other food groups, they typically have log orders more nutrients than even raw fruits and vegetables. The only other foods that come close are frozen entrees, but those tend to be loaded with salt. Besides, no kid is going to eat 10 servings of carrots, squash, or kale for breakfast, but they will eat one serving of cereal. I’m sure there are plenty of kids in the world who would be much healthier if they had access to breakfast cereals.
