Two Brooklyn cops were shot early Saturday in a wild standoff with a man who led them on a car chase before ramming a marked patrol vehicle head-on, sources said.
Police Officer William Reddin was struck in the hip and Police Officer Andrew Yurkiw was hit in his vest at point-blank range, sources told The Post.
Reddin underwent surgery at Kings County Hospital and was in stable condition. His partner was released after treatment for a blunt-force injury, sources said.

Wonder if they will ever get the blue flu again, the city deserves it.
Four days should be long enough.

Funes, who also goes by the name Fredrick, has at least 15 prior arrests on his record. His rap sheet includes a 2007 arrest for assaulting an NYPD cop and trying to take the officer’s gun, sources said. He served three years in prison on those charges.
In 2006, Funes was charged with assault in the second-degree for striking a child with a belt and was on probation for a year. And in 2002, he was charged with assault for punching a girl in the face.
Funes’s record also record includes 11 arrests in Illinois between 1996 and 2000. The details of those arrests was not known. At the time, Funes lived in a Chicago.
I agree. The NYC cops do not get the respect they deserve. They put up with so much crap. Manhattan is probably the safest place on the planet thanks to them. If they went off the job, I would get far, far away from NYC.

Jamal Funes should have never been let out of prison.
Perp has 15 arrests in NY, 11 in IL. He’s in critical condition. NYPD needs more range time.
His prior are due to systemic racism. His attack on the cops was due to righteous anger at the systemic racism he’s experienced. You see its whitey’ fault. Vote Sanders.
Prayers for a fast recovery for the Cops..........
Thanks for the clarification.
Heck, doesn’t Walter Wilhelm have a bunch of them as protective detail of the mayor hut?
Couldn’t pay me enough to protect his stupid butt.
Especially after the galling in your face disrespect he showed to the NYPD.
Malcolm X Boulevard?
Figures.
Ruh Roh. Over reaction by the PoPo since the perp was shot “numerous times”. Couldn’t they just shoot the gun out of his hand or create a flesh wound? That could have ended the entire confrontation. Right?
Some FReepers love NYC and insist that it is a safe place; I just don’t see it - and I live a dozen miles west of there. The problem is no matter how ritzy your place, the mutants are a subway ride away. Thankfully I have rivers separating me from NYC, as well as neighboring Newark and Jersey City on the NJ side - natural moats with limited access points.
Hmmm, if he's 34 now... he's been in real trouble since about the age of 14, so no wonder the details of the last millennium's arrests aren't known, and why he hasn't gotten stiffer post-juvi sentences.
I’ll admit to being an old timer. I’ve quit trying to figure out how to make sense of twitter boxes.
Rivers as natural moats. That is an interesting take on your location.
Around here the waterways are normally dry. :<(
If not, let me know and i"ll post it in cleartext.
I'm one of them. I moved to the area a couple years ago and have offices in both Manhattan and Queens (Long Island City). I feel completely safe in the city, day or night. The subway runs 24 hours a day, is well lit and I've never had cause to feel unsafe there either.
But I do realize that if the police didn't have such a presence, it would be a completely different world.
Prayers up for the officers.. Thank God they survived.
