Among the two candidates whose results look at all like those of an eventual GOP presidential nominee, polling suggests that Ted Cruz would do significantly better than Donald Trump in the general election. According to the Real Clear Politics average of recent polls, Cruz would fare 5 points better versus Hillary Clinton than Trump would.
Polling has consistently shown Cruz to have an advantage over Trump in this regard: Fox News found that Cruz would fare 4 points better than Trump, beating Clinton by 7 points (50 to 43 percent) to Trump's 3 (47 to 44 percent). NBC News and the Wall Street Journal found that Cruz would fare 6 points better than Trump, losing to Clinton by 4 points (49 to 45 percent) to Trump's 10 (51 to 41 percent). And Quinnipiac found that Cruz would fare 5 points better than Trump, tying Clinton (at 45 percent apiece) while Trump would lose by 5 points (46 to 41 percent).
In all, RCP's average finds that Cruz would beat Clinton by 1 point (47 to 46 percent), while Trump would lose by 4 points (47 to 43 percent).
Live by the poll, die by the poll.
Post a picture of any current candidate with a crowd like Trump’s and I’ll listen.
it was funny with the first ten guys, not it’s getting old.
If i recall correctly, Reagan and Bush made boo boos too.
at least with Ted, we’d be starting from a conservative view point.
We dont know what this other guy thinks in his heart. he’s all over the place.
he can change very quickly, he’s malleable.
why do repub ALWAYS have to be malleable but we win the senate and house and obama tells us to go @#$#@ ourselves.
i’m sick of being the gentleman loser.
The fact is, Trump is the least liked candidate, with the highest negatives in the field. He will lose the general election if he gets nominated. For one thing, in a one on one debate on policy, his shallowness on the issues will be glaringly obvious. Hillary or Sanders would cream him.
and i stole the “gentleman loser” quote from another freeper, who was talking bout a national review conservative.
I could never come up with that one on my own :)
Trump would pick better SC judges? Like, oh say- Judge Judy, his sister or Lawrence Tribe?
These are polls that are available from multiple sources, including RCP.
They bussed them in from all over the midwest and up in Chicagoland. Gave them free beer, free lunch, and free cigarettes. Plus $20 walking-around money.
A great Axelrod victory.
Oh please, yes, he did. He pushed him and even wrote a letter of recommendation for him. Wake up all you who believe this Elmer Gantry.

By that standard(popular among the masses) I’m voting for David Hasslehoff. Have you seen the crowds he gets in Germany?
I don’t put too much faith in polls. Especially in these “hypothetical matchup” polls that can be push-polled all to hell and back, and when it comes from Cheap Labor Express outlets like Fox News and WSJ, it makes me all the more suspect.
The self-serving career politicos with the money and power are absolutely in a panic over Trump. That alone is my strongest motivating factor to put him in office. And of all the policy outlines he has put forth since the start of his campaign, I agree with them all. I want to bring jobs back to this country, not insource cheap immigrant labor and outsource everything else to the lowest bidder overseas.
Is Trump something of a wild card? Probably. But you know what? A wild card is better than any career politician who has had their chance and done NOTHING to deliver.
How can this be? Only Ted Cruz can beat Hillary Clinton./sarc
First of all, I don’t think Hillary will be the nominee.
Secondly, I think Cruz is the only one who could win a debate with the witch, should she not be indicted and become the nominee. Thirdly, looks like Rubio would do better than the other two, but he may get creamed in a debate with the ruthless one.
After you show me the true hard demographics of where the votes come from, the claim be more convincing.
That’s great.
Things change very quickly in politics.
Polls don’t mean anything, election day results do.
Any celebrity can fill an auditorium.
He used to say if all this were true then why can't Cruz beat Trump?
I don’t believe for one minute that Cruz would win a general election. He has ZERO appeal to the general population. His support is all Christian and/or conservative.
Trump pulls in from all groups - the results of NH proved that. He has the background and celebrity status it takes.
Cruz beats Trump head to head. Trump probably will start paying Bush and Rubio to stay in the race.
Why do you post a crap picture of Obama? What does that prove other than idiots occupy libland.
