Among the two candidates whose results look at all like those of an eventual GOP presidential nominee, polling suggests that Ted Cruz would do significantly better than Donald Trump in the general election. According to the Real Clear Politics average of recent polls, Cruz would fare 5 points better versus Hillary Clinton than Trump would.
Polling has consistently shown Cruz to have an advantage over Trump in this regard: Fox News found that Cruz would fare 4 points better than Trump, beating Clinton by 7 points (50 to 43 percent) to Trump's 3 (47 to 44 percent). NBC News and the Wall Street Journal found that Cruz would fare 6 points better than Trump, losing to Clinton by 4 points (49 to 45 percent) to Trump's 10 (51 to 41 percent). And Quinnipiac found that Cruz would fare 5 points better than Trump, tying Clinton (at 45 percent apiece) while Trump would lose by 5 points (46 to 41 percent).
In all, RCP's average finds that Cruz would beat Clinton by 1 point (47 to 46 percent), while Trump would lose by 4 points (47 to 43 percent).
Here we go...
We are using inaccurate polls based on national results to make assumptions. We don’t elect Presidents that way. At all.
Not even in Florida.
The fact that everyone here on FreeRepublic, all of the conservative talking heads, and every other notable conservative thought that Roberts was a great pick is, absolutely, pertinent.
He had everyone fooled, yes, including Cruz. Either that, or his convictions were changed, or were forced to be changed.
Hindsight, as they say, is 20/20.
Your, and others', use of these Monday morning quarterbacking tactics against Cruz are intellectually dishonest.
Here’s the latest poll I could find. 60%
http://www.gallup.com/opinion/polling-matters/188936/trump-negative-image.aspx
Most of the other polls over the past few months put his unfavorable rating in the mid to high 50’s with one even at 62.
What’s Ted’s business worth?? How many paychecks has he signed?
What does that have to do with a Trump’s over valuation of his business?
How do you know it’s overvalued? More than two sources please.
You’re going to catch some flak for posting this photo. Cruz spoke for about six minutes to a crowd gathered for a Christian rock concert, along with Ben Carson and others. That photo is not from a Cruz rally, it’s from that Christian rock concert.
Is that the concert, or the rally? Trump rallies not troops than all other candidates put together and doesn’t need to team up with a band to do it.
As deceptive as Cruz, what a surprise.
Sanders can. Can Hillary?
The newest poll out yesterday shows Trump’s favorables up to 67% now. So nice try but no cigar. Trump is leading evangelicals over Cruz in SC now. Most polls have Trump beating Hillary head to head by 4-5 pts.
Absent an alien abduction Donald Trump is the GOP nominee and likely next President of the United States.
The tribe has spoken and its time for Cruz to turn in his spear.
Hillary’s expertise is in emptying the auditorium.
Did you support Roberts? I am ashamed to say I did. As far as Obamacare goes, he was a turncoat. Roberts records were reviewed, and no adverse records were found. Other than Obamacare, his record is impeccable. Who knows what Trump would have done. He has no record except his support of Hillary and other liberals. We KNOW where she stands.
Somehow, you and others miss the point that Trump also supported McCain, Romeny, and yes - even Ronald Reagan. I wish people would get it through their heads that businesses support both parties - but, I digress - some can’t learn. I didn’t pay a bit of attention to John Roberts when he was confirmed - so, I have no opinion of that one way or the other. All I know is he sold us out on Obamacare - and “Cruz supported him - Trump, like the majority of us - had no say so in the matter. You are stretching here.
