Early voting in Tennessee starting this Wednesday, Feb 10...
Rubio did awful in his early exchanges with Christie, i.e., the RoboRubio canned answers. But he did better as the night went along and recovered somewhat. His strong pro-life answer on the abortion question was excellent.
Caucus Discussion ping
Thanks for the ping.
Nice not to have to do a ‘search’. :)
I didn't see the debate tonight, but there seems to be a general consensus that Rubio kept repeating well rehearsed talking points. Consequently, he seems to be getting a poor rating for tonight's performance in the polls that are now coming out.
Yes, RoboRubio got pounded by Christie early on, and that is what people will remember. However, Rubio recovered after that and had some good moments later.
You're welcome, Amy. See, I did remember!
Cruz was solid and steady throughout, smart, substantial, coherent—shall we say presidential? He did very well tonight, coming off some less than stellar performances the last couple of debates.
Trump is defining himself as a moderate on social issues and a conservative on fiscal issues and a Nationalist.
Results ... Trump squeaks by, Cruz comes in 2nd and Rubio will be comes in 3rd in NH. Perhaps Christie may bounce and contend with Rubio. Christie is definitely on Trumps short list of VP.
It was just one of his canned answers that he recited well. Cruz is no less scripted than Rubio, he just uses fancier lawyerly language. For example, noone but a politician talks about “increasing the number of fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft”, real people say “more airplanes and helicopters”.
I'm starting to wish I'd watched tonight. Sounds like there's been some substantial shifts in the standing of at least a few of the candidates.
Some Freepers are saying that they rate Cruz's performance tonight dead last. I can't even speculate why he didn't do better. He's got the skill to have done so. It says to me that something's affecting him, and it obviously shows.
Well, alrighty. I guess some are going to give Ted a thumbs up for tonight. I'm hearing different from some others, but it's all in each person's perception, I guess.
TRUMP, leader
I’m sorry you didn’t see it. Imho, it was the first debate that’s been actually worth watching.
For my money, Trump is conservative in all the right places, given the disastrous state this country's in. I think we need his brand of unreserved nationalism and no-nonsense Pattonesque leadership right now.
Once he's done taking a sledgehammer to the overgrown fedzilla, we can concentrate on governing from a more traditionally (and dare I say, purist) conservative place.
Trump won!
Only Trump has stood up against the media, China, Mexico ,illegals, Muslims (All of the enemies of America and freedom). etc. All other politicians have not stood up nor said anything against ALL of these enemies of America.
The media is the main problem that is destroying the USA
Obama signed the USA’s Death Warrant tonight the TPP and Cruz helped obama to pass it even writing an op ed campaigning to give Obama fast track trade authority.
There are some Trump fans who will rate Cruz last no matter what. I guess they see him as the biggest threat to their guy. But in reality, Cruz had a very strong night. And even though I oppose Trump, I will say that he had an OK night tonight, limiting his Trumper-tantrums to just a few.
To me, that's been obvious since the day he announced, and it's why he's got my support. I simply don't see anyone else in the line-up who has the same altitude of natural executive leadership that he does.
I'm done voting for candidates who need on-the-job training after they win the presidency.
