But, he had a hell of a passing game.
I can’t either, a few years further on. And I didn’t have such a glorious career.
hope he invested wisely
That’s how I feel at 59.
Note to Joe, that is why God invented a fishing boat, big Tractors and other power Toys.
Try it...
Calvin Johnson is wise to get out now.
But he had a knack for getting the ball to guys that did.
Not much better, now that I'm near 62. I quit running after I got out of the Army, I was in during the days where PT was run in Jump boots.
I was off and on as far as exercise went. My physical activity came from trying to keep up with my kids' schedules, i.e. more mental than physical.
Was diagnosed with type II about 3 years ago, a real game changer. Eating better, walking a lot more. I try to get in 3-4 walks a week (5-7 miles each), more when the weather's nicer.
Last two years, I've hiked a local trail from my house and back, about 16 miles. I've got 3 more months to get ready for it.
I was in band in high school. A sports injury in 7th grade convinced my manager/agent at the time (Mom) to find new opportunities for me to express myself.
When my sons were in Boy Scouts, most of the adult leaders who were high school athletes struggled with the high adventure lifestyle of our troop, siting the nagging injuries from their HS days. The cumulative effect of extending playing time thru college and into the pros has to be almost exponential.
Sports are cool, but many of them set up bodies to be hit and moved in unnatural ways. Operating anything outside the design specs is risky, humans included.
Every morning when I get out of bed and head down the hall, my knees and ankles sound like popcorn over a hot stove top. My lower back hurts a lot, and my body gets pretty sore every day. Boo hoo.
In short, I'm getting older. I have no Super Bowl rings or endorsement contracts to balance the scales. Boo hoo.
Dan Hampton from the Bears once said that real men don’t walk away from football, they limp away. It really is true I guess.
No wonder why Montana couldn't beat Parcell's Giants.
I'm 62, and I can identify. I played a lot of baseball and a lot of basketball--basketball for a long time--and the toll it takes on your joints stays with you long after you quit playing. I've had surgery on both shoulders and both knees. It's hard now to exercise and stay in shape because of the aches and pains.
I’m 56 and I feel GREAT! I didn’t play football.
I’m 58 and in the best shape I have been in since my 20’s...I take vitamins, drink lots of water, work out 3-4 times/week and feel great. Attitude plays a large part, don’t like to say ‘I can’t’, although I definitely recognize reality.
I’ll be 59 in two months, played basketball, baseball, and pole vaulted in HS. I was too vertically challenged to play basketball further, so played baseball.
Apparently I am now a better athlete than Joe Montana, although my throwing arm is total crap from baseball, I ran 1.5 miles before work today.
It was good advice I wish I had followed more closely.
As much as I love football it's sort of idiotic how much it screws up people. I try to like watching soccer, but I just can't get any enthusiasm for it, but if I had a young son I would much prefer him playing that to football.
Makes Megatron’s decision to retire look all that much smarter.
