Ina Garten had a show on grilled cheese as an appetizer. There were three different cheeses and spreads and they were cut into 16 triangles. The guest, a caterer, said that it was her most requested item and the first to go.
It seems it would be perfect for super bowl.
My favorite comfort food is simply spaghetti noodles (cooked, of course) with butter, salt & pepper. Why should something so simple taste so good?
Grilled cheese sandwiches are my sweetie’s favorite - on the cheapest white bread, with Kraft American cheese & grilled in butter. Mac & Cheese (only Kraft!) is also on his list.
Sounds good. I have to admit, I’ve been very happy with Trader Joe’s tomato soup. Comes in a carton, makes about four servings. When I want a no-work lunch or light dinner, it’s good. Nuke up a bowl, top with some toasted cheese - also nuked.
That sounds really good, I’ve been looking for a good tomato soup recipe. We tried one at Macaroni Grill a year ago and it was so good. A bit on the spicy side though!
I have a quick version of tomato soup that I make for myself. One small can of tomato sauce, one cup of chicken broth, quarter cup of heavy whipping cream, salt, cayenne pepper and sweetener of choice. Fresh basil if I have it and a dash of parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast if I have it. It fills a big mug and I sip the whole thing myself.
Great served with grilled cheese made with cheddar and swiss or provolone cheese. Butter the griddle and put the bread on top. I’m usually making 8 sandwiches at once so this is the easiest way for me to make them. I don’t have time to butter each piece of bread! And for the record, I’m making this for lunch today now!
I printed out your tomato soup recipe to try next summer when we have tons of tomatoes. I was wondering if anyone on the forum has used one of those hand blenders that you stick into your cooking pot to blend up your ingredients. I usually try to get my hot soup into my regular blender very carefully and then back into the pot. Is the hand blender worth it?
Today is World Nutella Day.
That is what I grew up on instead of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Mmmmmmmm. I need to try your tomato soup recipe.
I was informed that it is International Nutella Day. When I went to school in France a zillion years ago, Nutella was a thing. When I lived in Switzerland 20 years ago, Nutella was a thing. Now it has become a thing here too. So, to celebrate this weekend, I think I will make these Nutella filled chocolate chip cookies if I can get my strength up enough to cook (recovering from the actual cold from hell).

The tamal casserole is easy to make and kids love it. The green rice was a big hit too.
