My favorite comfort food is simply spaghetti noodles (cooked, of course) with butter, salt & pepper. Why should something so simple taste so good?
Grilled cheese sandwiches are my sweetie’s favorite - on the cheapest white bread, with Kraft American cheese & grilled in butter. Mac & Cheese (only Kraft!) is also on his list.
I agree with you about the spaghetti. I will eat it with sauce, but second helping is always just butter and parmesan cheese. I don’t think my (Italian) husband ‘gets’ it...

This is also very, very good with cooked egg noodles as well. There would be many a time when, living alone, just didn’t want to cook and made this. Eating every bite :-)
butter, salt, fresh cracked black pepper and, of course, the noodles - easy peasy and you’re off
LOL!! When my husband was a teenager, he and a friend came home hungry one day and could not find anything cooked in the refrigerator, so he cooked a pot of spaghetti and served it with butter. His friend talked about it for 40 years as the worst meal he ever had. A little while ago a really good Italian restaurant opened in his neighborhood, and he had to share the story with the owner. She looked at him like he was from Mars, and said. “What? You don’t like butter?”
I agree with you about the spaghetti noodles. Something I really like is making up a package of ramen noodles, then adding the flavor packet (I usually use chicken or beef), and then once its been cooked and drained, I put it in my frying pan with some butter. I fry it up golden crisp on one side, turn it over, and let it fry a little bit more on the other side. Serve with salt or seasoned salt and you’ve got yourself a good little lunch.
My wife likes grilled cheese and tomato soup in the colder months. I go the easy route with her...Campbell’s tomato soup, made with milk instead of water, microwaved and served in the same bowl. Simplicity itself.
