They needed to manufacture an excuse or a scapegoat.

It almost sounds like a dirty trick within his own camp.
Makes me wonder what’s going on.

When a candidate gets desperate, his staff pulls out the stops.
And desperate people make mistakes.

I dont think this is a huge thing, but it is still a negative and will add in to the generally trending negative picture for Cruz.
I predict Trump over Cruz by 7 points in Iowa.

What are they thinking? That people are brainless sheep to be led around by their brilliant and astute political overlords.
Quite a few of Cruz's people supposedly quit yesterday. I wonder if this is why?

Someone else did this (or something similar) in the past, in some election. Vaguely remember it was a Rat, and within the last decade, but could be wrong.

Do you really think Cruz supporters will switch to your guy after all the lies DT has campaigned against Cruz on? I am in Florida and if Trump is polling #1 here on 3/15 I will vote for whoever is #2, whoever that may be. If DT wins the nomination I will not vote for him. Politicians get my vote based on their records and temperament. DT has nothing in his record or temperament that qualifies him for the job.

He always looks downtrodden, rather unkempt, and is not very articulate

Cruz’ direct mail campaign has been unnecessarily expensive and, in my case, ineffective in persuading me to give him more money than before the incessant ads started.
Cruz, my preferred candidate even yet, has been taking some very bad advice from consultants.

What a major dumbass move by the Ted Cruz campaign. It rings of Hillary tactics. I’m for Ted first, Trump second, but this is just a plain retarded move.

I wonder how many $1 bills in window envelopes the Cruz campaign sent out to stimulate cash flow?
I wonder how many of those never got to the addressee because of sticky fingered post office workers?

I posted earlier today as, let's step, and take a second look as this might end up being a brilliant move. The shaming letters are the brain chile of, Chris Larimer, associate professor of political science at the University of Northern Iowa. Who I believe works for Cruz. This is his website. http://addins.kwwl.com/blogs/politics_in_iowa/author/clarimer Larimer, is a respected Political Science Consultant. They did the same thing in Alaska, and it worked. Their research looked ,at hree or four letters that would bring attention to the person's voting record. One was mild and generically said that a person should vote, then there was this one, which was the most effective. The Cruz team realizes that with Trump out of the debate it put Cruz in the spot light. A gutsy move like this shaming letter...could be brilliant move... or back fire. I THINK IT WILL PRODUCE ITS INTENT, IE TO GET PEOPLE TO VOTE. AND IT WILL PRODUCE CONSIDERABLE DEBATE TODAY... BUT, I think the guy that "outs" you is going to suffer. Would have been much much better if they got some independent researcher to do this... NOT SOMEONE OFFICIALLY linked to the Cruz campaign.

“the targeting had been “very narrow,”
I guess the effects will depend upon how “narrow” the targeting was and how publicized statewide.
That said, it was stupid

I'm betting a lot of voters said "Scr** You, Cruz". How dare you threaten me.
It won't send them to Trump's booth but it will kill potential Cruz voters.
Shows Cruz doesn't have control over things. Wonder who he's going to blame for this.
