It's as Russian as borscht, but the AK-47 will soon be made in Florida.
The weapon of choice for guerrillas, terrorists and the soldiers of armies around the world, some 100 million AK-47s have been made in Russia since it rolled off the line in 1947. But now, the company's U.S. arm is planning to manufacture the gun at a plant in Pompano Beach, Fla.
"An iconic firearms platform, revered the world over, with a history of intrigue and controversy, now reborn as the new American Kalashnikov," the company said in a statement.
"Whether you are a sport shooter, hunter, protecting family, home and country, the new Kalashnikov USA firearms will exceed your expectations of how a firearm should perform."

Yes I did. the unit was understrength and had more weapons than it needed. One of our E-7’s clung bitterly to the M1927A1 Thompson in the inventory. I was very jealous, the M3 was a wonderful weapon.
That unit didn’t get it’s armory updated until Desert Shield.
Will be extremely surprised if they let it happen.
I liked it too, I suffered enough M-1 thumb at home. But I wanted something smaller and I actually had the choice.
You can get an AR upper in 7.62x39. More accurate than an AK and a lot better platform for optics mounting.
As far as shooting a deer it’s really very easy. Don’t shoot if you have a bad angle or no clear shot. And know your limitations. Just behind the shoulder angling forward. Or straight through.
Field dressing is even easier. Take the insides and put them outside!
Florida isn't nearly as Red as it used to be. And it will become Blue.
Florida is purple, fading to blue, alas.
I lucked out and bought a Chinese MAK-90 back when they were about $225, maybe 1995. Shortly thereafter on a lark I bought a milled receiver Bulgarian for maybe $350. Possibly paid less because I am cheap. My first SKS was $75 at a local Rose’s Department Store. I later got two more, one carbine length w/ AK mag and one Romanian. Later sold the carbine for a good profit.
SKS is a fun gun. I put a Williams rear peep sight and a Choate stock on my original rifle.
My son de-banned the MAK-90 and put on a proper stock. It’s a great gun for hip shooting. Kids loved it when they were little and ammo was dirt cheap. Accuracy, who knows? Certainly minute-of-Jihadi.
The young one built me an AR but I’ve never fired it.
NE liberals moving to Florida just like Californians invaded my once conservative Washington state, *sigh*
Ha ha. Why didn't I think of that!
I always say that my favorite gun is the one I happen to be shooting, when asked which gun is my favorite.
An AR in 7.62x39 sounds like something I'd like to shoot. But my likes about the AK are more the simplicity, reliability and minimal maintenance. Although I do like the 7.62 over the 5.56 for the distances I am capable of shooting at. It would be nice if the AK handled optics better, but I'd rather have a couples of cases of ammo than a scope for it.
You are not going to have AK reliability with the tapered 7.62x39 cartridge in an AR lower. Just buy both!
My eyes and open sights don’t work together well anymore. I pretty much scope everything. There’s nothing “wrong” with an AK. I’m just kinda gun poor right now. When it comes down to purchasing another AR or an AK I’ll probably go with another AR. Just for the optics thing.
It’s kind of like choosing between two girlfriends. I like this one’s bigger breasts, but the other has such a cute butt. Guess I’ll just have to have both.
So, might this include the AK-107 and -108? That would be outstanding.

I have a Chinese made semi in 7.62. Very easy to load and fire. Very easy to field strip and clean. Even runs dirty. Accurate at 100 yards, more not so much. When it all goes down, that is what I am taking to the hills with.
“To me $1,800 is a bit much to pay for any AK-47 variant.”
Don’t know where you’re pricing your weapons, but my dealer is selling the Kalishnikov US 132F1 for $830.
“Kalashnikov USA has just announced the suggested retail prices for its first series of American-made AK-pattern rifles and shotguns built in Tullytown, Pennsylvania, using all-American components. Prices range from $719 to $999.”
