FLORENCE, Colo. -In handwritten letters to hundreds of supporters and curiosity seekers, Unabomber Ted Kaczynski expressed shock over the 9/11 attacks and wrote that he preferred Hillary Clinton over Barack Obama in the 2008 Democratic presidential race.

Kaczynski also wrote to pen pals from federal prison in Colorado asking for more information about Osama bin Laden and the origins of al Qaeda, and has relied on others to inform him about the rise of the Internet and social media.

I remember reading somewhere, there’s a link between early separation from mother, and psychopathy in adulthood.
The child’s normal bonding process is interrupted, thus he is emotionally unconnected and unable to feel empathy for other human beings.
The pattern has been noted in many serial killers.

I have a copy of the letter, but not the letter itself. So ironic that he, of all people, should call me a kook!

What I did was write a book comparing his psychological makeup to that of California's Zodiac Killer, and suggesting the two might have been the same person. You can see how that wouldn't be very flattering to poor Ted's ego!

If you read that manifesto, he made a lot of fine points. But you shouldn’t murder innocent people with letter bombs.

Absolutely!

Ted is a classic example of how very intelligent people can be hoodwinked by someone making a lot of fine points.

Gotta say this. The still from the video that you’re looking at? My friend Mark was at the camera. The ONLY camera.

Ted K. as the Zodiac Killer makes a lot of sense, actually.

They had several similarities.

More than you can possibly imagine! Some say that their motivations were different, but if you look at Ted back in his Berkeley days you can see that his primary frustration was sexual.

If you're interested you can read about it in my book "The Unabomber and the Zodiac," available from Amazon.

“although his methods of disagreeing with folks could of been better expressed without using explosives :-)”

He really took that old “no problem that cannot be solved with high explosives” thing a bit too far.

And a court appointed psychologist. It’s pretty well established. And the Harvard professor who ran the experiments also worked with Timothy Leary. Before that he worked with the OSS in WWII to help choose its agents.
Ted was in his creepy experiment for 3 years.

I worked for a guy who ten years before, was a major math whiz at U of M when he was 19 or 20 and he may have known TK...Unfortunately, I won’t have the chance to ask if he knew of him.

It’s obviously written by someone with a brilliant mind. Still a psychopath though.

Yeah, he called Osama Bin Laden a power hungry “politician” but otherwise had no problem with him or terrorism.
Sounds like Uni finds you disagreeable. Good thing he’s never gonna get out!

BTW, one of the FBI agents who worked on the Unabomber case was Mary Ellen O’Toole. She was the real life inspiration for Clarice Starling, the character played by Jodie Foster in Silence of the Lambs.
