FLORENCE, Colo. -In handwritten letters to hundreds of supporters and curiosity seekers, Unabomber Ted Kaczynski expressed shock over the 9/11 attacks and wrote that he preferred Hillary Clinton over Barack Obama in the 2008 Democratic presidential race.
Kaczynski also wrote to pen pals from federal prison in Colorado asking for more information about Osama bin Laden and the origins of al Qaeda, and has relied on others to inform him about the rise of the Internet and social media.

A true eco-warrior.
Pen pals with the Unabomber? Would make a great insanity defense.
Algore, one of the corporal works of mercy is to visit those who are in prison.
You should read his "Manifesto." Kaczynski was a highly intelligent but asocial wretch who couldn't get laid, so he used his intellect to create an elaborately argued worldview to cast the blame for his misery, not on himself, but society at large. That worldview was so convincing that he not only fooled himself, but many other intelligent people who really, really, ought to know better.
Incidentally, as an aside, I have personally had the honor of being called a "kook" by the Unabomber, in one of his many correspondences.
Nuttier than squirrel poop.
If you read that manifesto, he made a lot of fine points. But you shouldn’t murder innocent people with letter bombs.
Poor Ted. Traumatized as a baby when he was left alone for too long in the hospital. They say he was never the same after that.
“Almost everyone will agree that we live in a deeply troubled society. One of the most widespread manifestations of the craziness of our world is leftism, so a discussion of the psychology of leftism can serve as an introduction to the discussion of the problems of modern society in general.”
From his manifesto
Psycho loons usually remain well, psycho loons. :-)
More from his manifesto. Is it wrong that I am agreeing with a few of his points? Lord help me.
“12. Those who are most sensitive about âpolitically incorrectâ terminology are not the average black ghetto- dweller, Asian immigrant, abused woman or disabled person, but a minority of activists, many of whom do not even belong to any âoppressedâ group but come from privileged strata of society. Political correctness has its stronghold among university professors, who have secure employment with comfortable salaries, and the majority of whom are heterosexual white males from middle- to upper-middle-class families.
13. Many leftists have an intense identification with the problems of groups that have an image of being weak (women), defeated (American Indians), repellent (homosexuals) or otherwise inferior. The leftists themselves feel that these groups are inferior. They would never admit to themselves that they have such feelings, but it is precisely because they do see these groups as inferior that they identify with their problems. (We do not mean to suggest that women, Indians, etc. ARE inferior; we are only making a point about leftist psychology.)
14. Feminists are desperately anxious to prove that women are as strong and as capable as men. Clearly they are nagged by a fear that women may NOT be as strong and as capable as men.
15. Leftists tend to hate anything that has an image of being strong, good and successful. They hate America, they hate Western civilization, they hate white males, they hate rationality. The reasons that leftists give for hating the West, etc. clearly do not correspond with their real motives. They SAY they hate the West because it is warlike, imperialistic, sexist, ethnocentric and so forth, but where these same faults appear in socialist countries or in primitive cultures, the leftist finds excuses for them, or at best he GRUDGINGLY admits that they exist; whereas he ENTHUSIASTICALLY points out (and often greatly exaggerates) these faults where they appear in Western civilization. Thus it is clear that these faults are not the leftistâs real motive for hating America and the West. He hates America and the West because they are strong and successful.”
Broken clock I guess, but an interesting read nonetheless.
I like ice cream, I bet the unibomber does too, but that doesn’t mean we agree on the important facts that distinguish us from each other.
They did some bizzaro MK Ultra experiments with him in college. They say it really sent him in a weird direction and sent him down the take down society pathway.
True, but still,,,,
His premise that technology is evil nullifies his manifesto. Technological advances and technological progress are both necessary for increasing the productivity of labor, which is necessary for increasing the average real wage rate, average purchasing power, and standard of living for the average worker. These are real goods required for the life proper to a rational being. Not everybody wants to live a subsistence level of existence in a shack in the woods with no electricity or running water.
He certainly had leftism down, although his methods of disagreeing with folks could of been better expressed without using explosives :-)
Kill them all and let God sort it out is not the best theory. LOL!
He called you a kook? Do you have the letter? Seems like that would be a collector’s item worth framing! LOL.
