Spock the house cat is so big, he gets mistaken for wild animal

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Spock the cat is suffering from a case of mistaken identity.

Spock’s owner wants her neighbors to know that he really is just a lovable and mischievous domestic cat, and not a bobcat or other wild animal.

Collen Pizarev told the San Jose Mercury News that a neighbor accused her of harboring a bobcat, after seeing her 27-pound, 46-inch Maine Coon peering out the window.

Another neighbor mistook the massive cat for a lynx.

We have a 20 lb Ragdoll. He's very sweet until his little brother (a black DSH) wants to play.

Someone once told me that Ragdoll won't defend themselves. They were wrong.

The hardest part about taking Toby to the vet is getting him out of the carrier when he goes limp. He's heavy!

Here on the San Fran peninsula, we have a rash of kitties becoming snacks for Wily E and his friends. Gotta make sure they are all inside come dusk.

A friend took a pic with a game camera of what she said was a bobcat.
She has the camera set over a water trough. Normally catches deer, raccoons. Central Fla.
Looks like a Fla. panther, aka mountain lion, etc.
After a little research I think it was a hybrid bobcat/ panther cross.

I’ve had two Maine Coons, both former strays. You’re not kidding about the “cat carrier” comment...they got to know *all* the sounds one could make (even just tapping on it) and would take off and hide if they heard ANY of them. Even if you were just moving it to get at something else...BOOM, they were gone!

This comment is in regards to cat carriers, the best carriers to transport cats in are the ones with a top door, far easier to pick up a cat and drop them into the carrier then to try to get them through the side door. I’m glad I did my research on pet carriers before buying one, the pet carrier I bought with a door on top was one of the best purchases I ever made.

Also bringing a good size box into a room with holes in the side, and letting them jump into and then closing the box and taping it up works pretty good too.
