This morning, I stood in front of hundreds of Brighton College pupils in assembly and spoke about the experience of being a trans woman. In the past few days, they've found their school suddenly the focus of press interest, after headteacher Richard Cairns scrapped traditional male and female uniforms to accommodate the needs of transgender children.
He made the decision to offer all pupils the option of trousers or a skirt, so that children with gender dysphoria can dress as the gender they feel they really are, rather than the one they were born into. Mr Cairns explained to me that his decision had been prompted by a female pupil, whose family had asked the school if she could dress as she did beyond the school gates - as a boy.

Correction, this “trans woman” is a man dressed as Morticia Addams.
Oh, for the first administrator who will voice my own opinion: “You’re not special, Buttercup, you’re a pervert. Now STHU and stop trying to infect the kids’ world with your problem.” He or she would be fired, of course, but if your career motivation is to protect the kids, it might just be worth it.
...or Rosie O’Donnell more often than not.
Yea but Carolyn Jones was prettier!
Ozzy Osbourne is tranny? Who knew??
My son’s school doesn’t specifically say only girls can wear skirts—it is offered as an option without respect to gender/sex. Of course it is assumed only girls will wear skirts, and the accompanying group photo of students in uniform shows only girls in skirts, so the only restriction would come through peer pressure. And you can’t really enforce against peer pressure. You can punish students for bullying a child who isn’t conforming when that entails hitting or inappropriate language, but you can’t make them accept that child as normal.
Yes, much!
ha!
i figure if a guy wants to make a fool of himself dressing up like a woman, okay with me... clothes are a cultural thing anyway, so long as he wears enough clothing he can wear a burqua for all i care
just keep him away from school children
Its OK I already self identify as a male lesbian and will put it on any government form that asks.
I will not let anyone oppress me, if I consider myself a lesbian trapped in a mans body they will just have to live with it.
I identify as Scottish.
I’d wear the skirt. Also insist on carrying a set of bagpipes with me. I’m guessing the school admin wouldn’t approve.
May God grant him the grace of repentance and conversion.
Insist on carrying a Claymore too.
I agree. For all I know, I could be passing men dressed as women or women dressed as men every day, without noticing. However, cross-dressing men are more likely to dress like Norma Desmond (or Morticia Addams) than they are to dress as ordinary women.
Celebrate perversion!
A âtrans womanâ is a man dressed as a woman.

IOW, a transvestite, right?
A pervert by any other name is still a pervert.
Correct.
