Speaking at a rally today for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin suggested that her son Track, who was arrested this week for a domestic violence incident, suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.
"I guess it's kind of an elephant in the room, because my own family -- going through what we're going through today," Palin said at the event in Oklahoma alluding to Track's arrest. "My son, a combat vet, having served in a Stryker Brigade for you all, America in the war zone; but my son, like so many others, they came back a bit different."
She added, "I can certainly relate with other families who feel these ramifications of some PTSD."
Track Palin, 26, was arrested Monday night in Wasilla, Alaska. An Iraq veteran who enlisted in the Army Sept. 11, 2007, Track Palin was charged with three misdemeanors, including assault, interference with the reporting of a domestic violence crime and weapons possession while intoxicated, according to Alaska court records.
He allegedly punched and kicked his girlfriend before she says she thought he might shoot himself, according to the criminal complaint.
It is unclear whether he has entered a plea, and a family lawyer did not respond to ABC News' requests for comment.
The former Alaska governor, who endorsed Trump Tuesday, also suggested that President Obama deserved some of the blame for the psychological condition of veterans.

He allegedly punched and kicked his girlfriend before she says she thought he might shoot himself ...
My father once attempted to strangle my mother. If you knew my mother, you’d cheer him on.
Wrong year, it was 2008.
Try finding this fact in Google or Bing. Almost every hit is a Leftist story disparaging the Palins, with lots of opinion, and very few FACTS.
All I wanted to know was his military service record; not how many times his sisters’ got pregnant, or why people hate Sarah, or why he’s a drunk.
The world Left of this site HATES the Palins.
Well.... Keep in mind that some things just weren’t talked about then, especially mental health. A couple of the men in my family who served became alcoholics after returning.
They held down jobs and had families (one more successfully than the other) but they did struggle.
Audie Murphy was a wreck, unfortunately. Although he sustained a good movie career, he was a reckless gambler who actually borrowed money from the mob! If you read the very good book “Picture,” he speaks not of his shell shock but of his terrible war memories and how the war dominated his every waking moment. Only horseback rides helped. I am a huge fan of this man. He led an interesting and yet very sad life.
Many World War II Vets had problems that weren’t addressed. You need to do some homework.
Then I pray that he gets the help he needs.

And there were those who ultimately committed suicide or fell into a history of abusing their own families. Then there were also those who were institutionalized for the remainder of their lives or who died as unknowns living on the streets and the final remaining soldiers still suffering from lack of care from the VA........
So what's your F'n point?
I agree with you! Taking pills doesn’t ‘work through’ anything. It MAYBE just covers it up. And most of those drugs have potentially deadly side effects- not to mention suicides. We’re losing too many of our vets to suicide as it is. A bunch of the mass shooters that have happened were taking SSRIs, .
Dear God you people are heartless. How about you spend some time with those vets, get educated on exactly what they are dealing with and the utter lack of viable assistance from our broken down pathetic VA. Then come back and make your idiotic jokes, because hey, it’s always fun to kick someone when their down, right?
My God, you hateful, vicious, judgmental people should be ashamed of yourself. Until you have walked a mile in their shoes, keep your nasty, vile remarks to yourself. Jesus despised people like you Pharisees who think you are so much better than others. You are sickening.
Your self-righteous pietism is showing.
I guess I’m not as “good” as you...
We live by Grace.
This has nothing to do with me and everything to do with your judgmental attitude. We live by grace? Then how about some empathy for those who have been wounded both physically and emotionally in war - You are a dam*ed self-righteous hypocrite.
Being in combat messes with you mind.
You must be a hard man.
Is there a guy who follows the Palins around playing the Deliverance theme on a banjo - or does it just seem that way?
Audie Murphy saw he was getting addicted to the pills and locked himself in a hotel room and went cold turkey on his own
Just testing for “new” meds same VA as always- here just take this, You will feel better (if You live...)
